Bernabei window. Good luck to old foes in CL

411

It is perhaps just as well Greg Taylor has had such an impressive start to the season.   The alleged offence Alexandro Bernabei was arrested for yesterday will not enhance his chances of integrating into Scotland or the Celtic defence.

He is 21 years old, a long way from home and has a lot more money in his bank than ever before.  It is a heady cocktail.  Ange Postecoglou is experienced enough to know how to best deal with the player, how the season progresses is very much up to Alexandro.

After Hearts on Sunday, Celtic are away to Dundee United and Ross County, the latter in the League Cup.  Alexandro should be hoping to make his competitive debut during those two away games.  If he misses this window, he’s unlikely to make an appearance until after games against Newco and our first Champions League tie of the season.

Best of luck to old foes Bodo/Glimt and Copenhagen in Champions League qualifiers tonight.  Good to see honest teams that live within their means prosper.

Which brings me to mind of another quote by the

    visionary financially savvy man.

” You can’t live on the hope of a Television contract and play in a stadium with nobody there ”

Maybe Kilmarnock would do well to heed his words.

Gp oh they would be wise to pay attention.

They could have sold the 8,000 u sold tickets to Celtic fans

    £30 a pop

Cool quarter of a million approx.

Same self harm vs us again, and 2 vs Nooklub.

    That’s £1,000,000 revenue knocked back,rejected by killie

They don’t make that hiring it out

As well as their own self harm rejecting a £million,as a club they are part of a TV deal that rejects selling right digitally(ie a £10 £to your) as the recent Ross County experience shows

  2. Ronny Delia and John Collins were huge on sports science, Ronny in particular wanted to change the diets of the players radically, you can take the player into the sports science world, but some you cant take their chips off them

Brendan Rodgers was an elite manager who took the football dept to elite levels in sports science and training methods never seen at Celtic park

No doubt after Rodgers departure the footballing dept did spiral into a dark place, with poor management

Ange has revitalised and reenergised the dept long may it continue

  3. I was on holiday recently and some of the fish options I didn’t recognise

I googled them and have been crap at my job ever since

Felt so let down by my employer 😎

To be fair, when my employer put me up in a hotel for 3 months i put on a stone

First time i’d felt wobble in my chest out running

Hotel is not ideal; we had the option of renting for 6 months.. sounds a better option for a real athlete

Which was so predictable after the cup final in 2019. I’ll never forget that gut punch

If Celtic don’t have someone in charge of player wellbeing as well as mental development then there’s something far wrong.

There should be a team of dieticians, sports psychologists but also just someone to help players get settled in a new city.

This goes even more so for young players brought into the B team.

  6. LionsRoar – agree with you there! My general gripe is that tactics and training aside, the level of excellence that Rodgers brought and Ange is bringing should be driven by the Club rather than being dependant on who the manager/head coach is.

Anyway, come on PSV – pump that lot!!!

  7. Malonebhoy – agree on the B team boys. The first teamers will probably muddle through and have enough money to hire personal chefs, a private concierge service, etc. The B team lads will be on buttons and are more likely to get mixed up with the wrong crowd

We have never had a footballing DOF, we had an accountant who considered himself a DOF he blew 10IAR

Celtic would need to reconstruct the football dept towards a DOF structure where you just hire a first-team coach/manager, it wont happen now Ange is da man for now

  9. I moved to England when I was 20 – new job, knew no-one, lived in digs, and no-one understood me 🤭

  10. Genuine question , how many of our b team boys have been in trouble and got in with the wrong crowd , in say , the last 3 years ?

  11. an evening of foorball only songs begins with the highly populer BUILD MY GALLOWS BUILD THEN HIGH

a one a one aone tow three four

  12. Lions Roar – that’s true we would need a DoF and I don’t think Ange would want one. But we should be looking at that post-Ange to maintain standards! Lawell saw himself in that role but didn’t have the experience and tried to do it all on the cheap!

Bognorbhoy – a fair point. I think it’s probably more important now we’re bringing in boys from Ireland, England than it is for some of the Scottish lads who possibly still live at home and already have an established support network.

  13. Evening all.

I’m just about to watch the weekends game again tonight, ‘ma telly doesn’t play them (unless they get beat).

Had a wee bite to eat in the ‘Vulcan’ public house in Coatbridge earlier today, fantastic food, cracking beers, I recommend the Guinness and Tartan.

    Mad Mitch

I’m more than happy to meet you there for a pot of two of ale and chew the fat.

    Your choice.

  14. Wow – that’s some team Sevco have assembled. £35m rated Kamara can only get a place on the bench. 🤔

And speaking of the bench, it looks very strong. I say that as Morelos is sitting on it and its not sagging at all!

    😀

  15. PSV better team first 15 minutes. Missed a sitter after 5 but Huns are hustling them so still all to play for.

  16. As a wee aside I was taught Real Estate Financing by the former head of Philips,

I had an open invitation to go see PSV and never once made it inspite of working in Einhoven, Tilburg and Venlo on literally hundreds of occasions.

  17. LIONROARS67 @ 7:31 PM,

Excellent post, agree with you guys, these things should not be left to chance or the whim of a managers strength and weaknesses, they should be immanent within the Club structure.

I wonder if the “perceived” lack of support for the foreign new arrivals is part of Scottish Culture. It may have changed in recent years but Scots got home closed the door and there work life and private life was very distinct.

Scots like to socialise with family and friends and although very friendly in nature to neighbours and strangers, they are very private people.

Maybe that psyche isn’t congruent with a very strong support culture…

    Just~a~thot

    Hail Hail

  18. McCOIST, failed football manager, worked for an organisation that went bust and is in the process of liquidaton, part of it caused by his failure against Maribor, 15 points clear in the leage, and they lost it.

here ally come give us your wisdom on this mathc, he talks absolute borrocks

  19. Honours as a manger –
