Bernardo and a bit of theatre

236

Football is theatre and good theatrical producers know how to put on a show.  That being the case, Celtic will take the opportunity to give the club a timely boost on the cusp of the opening game of the season by announcing the signing of Paulo Bernardo.  Perhaps our former campaigning Irish striker will even drop by before Sunday.

Celtic have been at this since Jock Stein’s days.  Jock knew that pre-match press conferences were an opportunity to put a spring in the step of players and supporters alike.  Brendan Rodgers’ comment yesterday that Paulo would be signed “within hours” is confirmation that the deal is done, you are just waiting for a bit of theatre.

    Yep, forgot about him

Simply have to get a LB, CH and 2 strikers in- not Scargill😎

  2. I don`t know if facts would back me up but I often felt that we had difficult Away games in the SPL games after we had had an Away European game. The tables have been turned this week as Kilmarnock has an Away European followed by a visit to us. Excellent.

    Cheerio for now.

Turnbull is the perfect Scottish football test case.

    Wonderful skill on one foot

    Very slow and can’t tackle

Total legend at every youth level

    Capped

Signs for a massive club with a terrible coach and manager

Criticized publicly then seen as panic saviour

Tries to fit in with new proper managter, improving

Seems to be gone under next manager but scores vital goals so stays

Leaves for his own career and mental health

    No Scotland caps ever again

All due to a combination of pushing the wrong players at youth level

  5. A 60,000 all season sell out dismisses any shred of hope for any accountancy from a PLC board without a fan pressure gun as leverage especially if its a board full of faceless wage suckers.

A PLC is a backdoor to the stock market which is a toy of Wall Street.

Which means the Celtic uniqueness is no more.

A club is no more when it thinks like a brand.

A club were a legitimate and inquisitive line of questioning will be ignored, then it’ll be dismissed as mischief making by a tiny minority [ probably the last handful of fans with any clean souls ] a club who badly needed a Celtic figurehead [ have we ever replaced Desmond White? Who in the Taylor Report days could have altered the pushed narrative of unsafe standing, and exposed Thatcher’s 1989 scam imho ] a Desmond White to interject in the Rangers 2012 disaster and, insert integrity as the first and last commodity to bring solution.

Rangers fans stole zero EBT Tax from HMRC – but they must be 100% punished for the actions of a crooked Knight of the Realm on Rangers board?

At that point, DW would have called a media conference to get David Murray jailed, citing that this EBT crisis is entirely Celtic’s business, as the fraud was carried to cheat Celtic F. C. and its supporters, as well as other Scottish club’s and their supporters.

All of this “Keeping our powder dry” pish was an act of betrayal against the integrity of Celtic F.C. and its long cheated supporters, and standing idly by and watching 50,000 INNOCENT opposition fans being punished for something that 99.9% of them knew nothing about and thinking they were being lied to, and then Dim Dimmy’s thinking that Celtic F. C. are the good guys because our club didn’t cheat through EBT’s is moon walking.

    No Integrity = No Celtic.

To deny this is to fully display the credentials of a toothless green hun.

  6. Bernardo is an example of pushing the right players

2 feet, engine, shooting and passing skills

The reason he is at Celtic is due to competition in a great development club and maybe a hard edge. He has learned that bit now. A 2 time hero last season

    He will blossom

  7. Bernardo confirmed 5yr deal. 7pm local time on a Thursday night , pure theatre :). Maybe idah announced tomorrow for the theatre – otherwise the circus continues

  8. Dunfermline Athletic are in talks to sign 21-year-old Celtic B goalkeeper Tobi Oluwayemi on loan. (The Courier)

  9. Paulo Bernardo had an 80,000,000 buy out clause when he was teenager.Maybe any youngster with talent is quoted with high buy outs by Benfica, but they obviously thought a great deal of him.

Don’t think you will see those headlines in the Record.

    Matchday 8: 29 January 2025

Brendan actually said he’d like to get in the knock out round, so pencil these dated in;)

Totally agree. Well done to Brendan and the Board in attracting a player from a big club.

  13. Looks like no winter break this season, which is a shame, could have worked in our favour with UCL fumes at the end of January.

    Hail Hail

  14. Retro Celtic 👏👏👏

At this point I couldn’t care less if we sign Bernardo.

This Celtic Board are completely incompetent and crass! 🍀

  15. Chairbhoy on 1st August 2024 7:43 pm

that is why there is no winter shutdown,

there are two european games scheduled.

  16. Bernardo is delighted to sign for Celtic he ‘loves’

The player told the club’s official website: “It’s amazing for me and it’s a big step in my career. I really enjoyed last season when we won the championship and the cup, so it was great for me – my first two titles in my career, too.

“I love the club, I love the fans and I love the city, too, so it’s very, very nice to be here again. I love the atmosphere at Celtic Park and away in all the games. Celtic is a big, big club. The fans feed us in the game so we can score one more goal or win the game in the last minute. They show that they love the club and I think they really like me too, so I love them.

I would guess Charlie Gallagher and Pat Crerand playing football in the street.
