Bernardo entitled to wait

140

Paulo Bernardo is entitled to negotiate as good a deal as possible and if Celtic have put an offer before him, he will know there is no need to rush things.

Two years ago Celtic were in a similar situation with Jota.  A deal had been agreed with Benfica on a permanent transfer fee a year earlier, but no deal was concluded with the player.  Jota and Celtic continued to negotiate until 1 July.

If the club want Paulo they will sign him, not least because anyone else looking to offer higher wages will need to negotiate a fresh fee with Benfica, who will now want more for a player in demand than the deal they struck with Celtic last summer.

Can we read from the above that, based on his year at Celtic, Benfica value Paulo higher than €6m ?

If so, suggestions Celtic are trying to haggle for a lower fee …. don’t make sense?

    From previous article ….

2.4m fence height should be fine. Sevco fans can’t throw things over that height?

    🤔🤔🤔🤔

    How about 12 metres?

  4. We should have had some transfer news by now.Pre- season flying towards us,American tour not far away.Bernardo ?.Just seems we can never do anything straight.Same with Oh.Take the fekin money.Get one over the line. Can we afford a better CH than Mc Kenna?.If he is costing 8 million?Keeper?Surely we had done our homework.A list MUST have been drawn up.One becomes available, sign him.How long are we prepared to wait on Idah?.Other strikers could be bought and sold by then.

Maybe we are not,but this looks like a load of faffing about again. If BR is really in charge, would like to see some evidence.

I tend to agree with you. That said the narrative in recent years, from Sky Sports, SMSM, BBC Scotland, Radio 5, TalkSport, pundits, former players et al is that Celtic FC should ‘see sense’ and get that Old Firm atmosphere back on a regular basis. (Ignoring the fact that it was Dave King who reduced the Celtic away allocation), and there have not been that many cup finals in recent times, not really that many historically really. Dont get me wrong the Scottish Cup Final was a spectacle, and though a poor stadium, green and white clad Celtic supporters celebrating Adam Idah’s winning goal in the sunshine was a sight to behold. It is the mantra that gets me, nothing in Scottish football can change if it affects the possibility of 4,5 or 6 Old Firm matches season, or 4 against anybody come to that. I’d prefer a bigger league, fewer games against more teams. But that does not fit with the narrative, one that Celtic also agree on, hence the fences, gates and the staircase, the Old Firm will be back at Celtic Park next season, steps are being taken, and being built….

  9. Talking about ” Searching”….

Has anyone found the £350 MILLION per Week that the Tories PROMISED IF the UK left the EU ?

Sunak and his lying corrupt mates should be brought to book over THAT LIE….Before the Election.

From last article , thanks for that . Pretty much as I suspected .

  11. It was a Scottish hiker who was found in Tenerife when police were searching for Jay I think

  12. Glasgow is Green and White.

Every day is Green Day, but especially today. Hope they play ” Chump”

Seems that another missing Briton , a man aged 51, has been found in Tenerife but Jay Slater is still missing.

  14. !!Bada Bing!! on

With the money we have,we could possibly get better deals paying all fees upfront, instead of clubs waiting a couple of years for instalments.

  15. For those who missed it late last night on Beeb2, or who have never seen it in the first place, “The Damned United” is now on BBCi player. Michael Sheen’s portrayal as Brian Clough is fantastic, (and apparently Sheen could play a bit), supported by some great performances, Colm Meaney as Don Revie, and our very own Martin Compston as John O’Hare among many. One of the great films about this sporting life, and possibly the best football one, better even than ‘Escape To Victory’. Quite like “The Keeper” mind. Would love to see a proper movie about our early, late 19c years, and a few sequels after that. Or we could start in the now, then throw in a few prequels.

  16. Bernardo is looked after the Gestifute agency owned by Jorge Mendez. They’re the biggest agency in the world so it’s no surprise they’re shopping him around before signing anything with us

Same thing happened with Jota who they also look after. If they aren’t playing hardball with Celtic they aren’t good at what they do

    Big Jimmy

Where have you seen the news about the boy

    …………

Ive just logged back on again to APOLOGISE to everyone regarding the youngster JAY SLATER.

Late this morning I read ONLINE in a News Outlet that Jay HAD been found alive, although somewhat tired and disorientated by the Spanish Police.

Some time later on the TV and the BBC News, the presenter claimed that Jay was STILL missing ?

I have seen some other Posts on this Thread that it was a Scottish Man aged 51 who had been found, and not Jay.

    My apologises to ALL.

I hope that they do find young Jay ASAP…Alive and well.

  18. Seems we have our keeper Livikovic,a massive welcome to Celtic.7.6 million.

I should complain on here more often.:-):-).

Now get the jets on,frighten the SMSM,the scum,to death.

    Where is that from?

  20. did’t impress at the euro’s and not very tall for a goalie , suppose it keeps with the narrative that smaller is the way to go.

  21. Jose murinho desperate to get rid and already has a replacement goalie at less than half the price lined up from Italy.

  22. garygillespieshamstring on

He’s no Jota. Not even a first pick if everyone else is fit.

Eighteen grand a week should get us better than him.

Sounds like made up pish either from newspaper reporter or agent.

Tidy player but has not shown enough for me to suggest that he is a player for whom it is worth breaking the wage structure.

  23. garygillespieshamstring on

I think a Celtic movie about the life and times of Jimmy McGrory would be great.

Starting from his early life in the garngad and covering crltic from pasty Gallagher to the late 70s could be quite something.

  24. Bernardo is a no brainer signing for us , once he settled in to our Scottish ways played really well

    Grassisnotalwaysgreenercfc

  25. RC where are you getting that? He asked to leave Mourinho is not desperate to get rid. He also made one of the saves of the tournament last night and was nominated for the Yashin trophy at the Ballon D’Or awards this year. Honestly he’s an exceptional goalie great penalty saver too.

  26. Put it this way he’s 10 times better than Joe Hart and personally I thought Joe did us proud.
