The Hoops great believes his old club will have to tighten up considerably after their performance in last week’s 3-3 draw at Parkhead.
He said: “Ronny Deila has been at the club for something like eight months now, so he must be aware of the capabilities of every single player.
“I would play it tight at the back and in midfield without restricting anyone from the opportunity of expressing himself.
“In the first leg we were all over the place in the opening 20 minutes, spaces were appearing everywhere.
“We were just so wide and if you give players of the class of Inter Milan that sort of luxury they will hurt you. And that’s exactly what they did by scoring three goals.
“The manager is trying to get the team to play total football, but I believe you can’t do that at this level.
“You must keep the game in front of you and get their players turning and chasing back towards their own goal.
“Ronny is a clever laddie. He’s also a fitness fanatic and I can see improvements on that front. It’s all about shutting people down and not allowing the other team to play.
“The substitutes’ bench could play a crucial role, too. If the game plan isn’t working out, Ronny must know he has players to turn things around.
“Remember, we only need to win 1-0 to reach the last 16.
“We can score goals in the first and last minutes as we’ve proved this season. One wee break could make all the difference.”
