Beware snooping TV mics

640

Offensive, insulting and abusive language is not condoned on CQN nor anywhere else but if you’re mumbling to this effect while typing more prosaic comments we don’t have a problem. If, by some clever use of technology, I discretely caught you on mic while recording a feature for CQN and broadcast your words it would be my fault, not yours.

If Neil Lennon addressed insulting or abusive language at an official or opponent then he should be correctly disciplined, but if, as reported, television microphones picked up randomly comments there is no case to answer.

We’re getting back to the days when directional radio mics were used to pick up sound from Celtic fans getting off buses outside Falkirk Stadium in 2009. This one feels opportunistic and is not balanced by audio from other technical areas under scrutiny. If this is how the SFA want to control technical areas, they should issue advice to this effect and introduce appropriate measures, not attempt to discipline Neil Lennon without precedent.

So people are jumping in slating Celtic fan and ex- player from an artical in the Scotsman titled ‘Rumour Mill’ which quotes The Sun?

Aye so this what CQN posters do when CQN posters are not obsessing about a daft wee division 3 club?

Sorry if I’m going over old ground here folks but, was Neil’s “repeated use of offensive, insulting and abusive language” broadcast on TV or radio?

  5. Is it normal practice to have mics placed in/near technical areas? If so, for what purpose. Are the folk in the technical areas aware they are being recorded?

In theory, information on tactics etc could be passed on to the opposition by anyone with access to this.

If having mics near technical areas is normal. Would they not have picked up what Lenny’s assailant at tynecastle shouted at him. Is this not why he got off with religiously aggravated assault as it was his word against a steward?

  7. The MSM strategy is very transparent, keep pushing for the new club to be ‘fast-tracked’ into the top flight. If they can get quotes attributed to someone with connections to Celtic all the better. They seem to be unable to carry out an interview without pushing this.

Meanwhile Chuckles continues his cull and little or nothing is said or even less unlikely investigated. The doctrine of the three wise monkeys is again dominating the next big developing story in the south side.

Paul Hartley’s giving an opinion-he’s not the problem-and it doesn’t reduce him as a Celt in my eyes. A Lisbon Lion has said the same thing to me and he’s still my hero.

’15 years for killing 6 kids? Is that all?’

    It’s a minimum of 15 years.

The fact that the intention wasn’t to kill the kids was probably taken in to account.

    For what it’s worth —

Berlusconi bought and paid for Donatti . . Terim didn’t last long at Milan [ he couldn’t stand Berlusconi]. He didn’t rate Donatti which is why he preferred to play Rui Costa . Doubt that Donatti got more than a handful of starts from Terim .. Berlusconi gave Donatti a year and then loaned him out.

Many thanks. Just wondered if the reason for the SFAs action was that it was broadcast or whether it had just been picked up but not transmitted.

  17. Have to say Mick Philpott is a lowlife scum who should never be released from prison.

If his “plan” as it appears was to be a hero saving his kids from a fire whilst blaming it on his former girlfriend to get his other kids back, then is was murder in my book.

I suspect he won’t last five minutes in prison will be dead by the summer.

There was no intention to kill the children.

The intention, such as it was, was to save the children, albeit having put them in danger in the first place.

I don’t think they would have got a conviction for murder, at least not one that would have been upheld on appeal.

You have to put to one side your revulsion at the consequences and the man’s conduct and lifestyle in general.

  19. just have to laugh at neil getting cited by the SFA for insulting and abusive language” in Paisley.

as all comments were picked up by tv mics at game

so the sfa will start citing a certain club soon for their repeated singing of sectarian songs on live tv every week from same source

also as sevco keep saying they are oldco/ ra gers

then when their fans were singing sectarian songs against killie and hearts at ipox

when is the report due from the sfa?

one rule for a certain club springs to mind

Saudi Arabia Man, Ali al-Khawahir, Faces Being Paralysed In ‘Eye-For-An-Eye’ Punishment

A Saudi Arabian man faces being deliberately paralysed in an “eye-for-an-eye” punishment for stabbing his friend in the back 10 years ago.

Ali al-Khawahir was just 14 when he attacked his friend, paralysing him from the waist down, reports the BBC.

Saudi Arabia’s law of retribution, qisas, means he will face the same fate as his former friend if he cannot pay one million riyals (£250,000) in compensation.

Human rights organisation Amnesty International condemned the move. In a statement, its Middle East and North Africa Deputy Director Ann Harrison said: “Paralysing someone as punishment for a crime would be torture.

“That such a punishment might be implemented is utterly shocking, even in a context where flogging is frequently imposed as a punishment for some offences, as happens in Saudi Arabia.

“It is time the authorities in Saudi Arabia start respecting their international legal obligations and remove these terrible punishments ”

Khawahir has spent the last 10 years in prison during which time his 60-year-old mother has campaigned for someone to raise the compensation needed to save her son.

She said: “Ten years have passed with hundreds of sleepless nights. My hair has become grey at a young age because of my son’s problem.

“I have been frightened to death whenever I think about my son’s fate and that he will have to be paralysed,” reports the Saudi Gazette.

Paul Hartley was minutes away from signing for the Dead Club before Celtic called at the last minute. How many ‘Celtic men’ would have been prepared to do that?
