CELTIC have been monitoring Austrian winger Husein Balic who is nicknamed ‘The Sprinter’ because of his electrifying pace.
The LASK Linz left-winger is under contract until 2024, but the financially-stricken club may have to sell their prize asset for a bargain £2.8 million in the January transfer window, according to the Mail on Sunday.
Twenty-four-year old Balic has hit the ground running this season with four goals in 11 appearances and is poised to play against Jose Mourinho’s Spurs in the Europa League next month.
Lennon has been looking for width in his squad, particularly on the left where he lost Scott Sinclair to Preston at the turn of the year and Jonny Hayes to Aberdeen at the end of his contract in summer. Lewis Morgan was also allowed to leave for Inter Miami in January while £2million misfit Maryan Shved is on loan in Belgium for the rest of the campaign.
Balic ticks most of the boxes for the champions, but they could face competition in Southampton and Brentford who have also been watching the fleet-footed flanker in recent months.
