BIG YOGI TIPS DEMBELE TO BE TODAY’S SEVCO SKELPER

CELTIC legend John Hughes reckons Brendan Rodgers will give the nod to Moussa Dembele to lead the attack at Hampden today.

There has been a clamour for the Hoops boss to play the French Under-21 star AND Leigh Griffiths as twin strikers against Rangers in the crucial Scottish Cup semi-final.

However, Hughes – known as Yogi during his 12-year 197-goal Hoops career – doesn’t think Rodgers will take a risk with so much at stake and a domestic clean sweep a mere two games away.

He said: “I could see the point of teaming up Dembele and Griffiths if they had played a few games together this season.

“But that hasn’t been the case, they have rarely figured in the same forward line.

“I rate them both highly and, naturally, both carry a massive goal threat.

“Dembele has struck 32 goals in his debut term at the club and Griffiths claimed 40 last time out.

“He has been unlucky with injuries in this campaign, but has still managed 14 which is a decent return when you consider he has been forced to play second fiddle on so many occasions to his team-mate.

“It’s tempting to pair them against Rangers, but I still think Brendan Rodgers will stick to his tried and trusted formula.

“Celtic have scored nine goals against the Ibrox men this season and Dembele has scored five of them, so it would be difficult to overlook him for a starting place.

“He didn’t produce in the 1-1 draw in March and he might want to make up for that performance.”
