Bigger questions loom than reconstruction

1092

We now know that Craig Whyte met Neil Doncaster and Ralph Topping, directors of the SPL, in London in October 2011 and informed them of the likelihood that Rangers would go into liquidation.  Whyte’s plan, to start a Newco and have it parachuted into top flight football was only taken seriously as a result of these three having a head start on everyone else and doing some preparatory work.

Charles Green has no such plans.  If he loses Ibrox, becomes embroiled in IPO-related troubles or fails to bridge the gap between money-in and money-out, an unplanned liquidation could follow with a potentially protracted period where physical assets are moribund and playing assets and other staff are released.

The SPL and SFL would do well to consider ‘what next?’ when they hold separate meetings next week.  The century-old ways are gone, things will never be the same again.

I’m really pleased the aforementioned Charlie issued an apology for his offending comments, even if he did so under duress from the SFA.  This kind of rhetoric has taken control within football in some European countries.  Once the door is open it is hard to close it again.

For me,the intention is what matters.

In my experience, the word ” fenian “was always accompanied by the word bastard.

    The intention was insult.

    See the current hun songbook.

  2. It seems to me that info is being supplied to supportive journos from “The Baron Knights” element with inhouse sympathisers. They want Chuckles gone and get the remnants of their club for a song.

  3. We need to tell IA that £137k is 25% of the 10% deposit required of the £5million to buy deadco.

That is why £137k is important in the scheme of things

  4. I hope our hero has the tapes hidden because my gut feeling is they need to silence him for the plan to work.

Just finished reading 13 pages of posts .

    This came to mind ——

” Living and working in Great Britain taught me very many things —those things include learning that the British can be very liberal with the English language – for example food and fascist seem to have completely subjective and misleading meanings ”

I think it’s dangerous to put any pressure on Whyte. Everytime somone does he produces a gem. Green is the target now because everyone is terrified what Whyte will produce next. I wonder if Chuckles has recorded anything? A rat will always go for your throat when attacked. These guys have went into this protecting themselves. If they turn on Green too let’s see what he comes out with. I wonder if Murray is heading for Rio yet?

Did anybody explain to RogueLeader what’s wrong with ‘No surrender’. I’d quite like that clarified too.

“King James and all his rebel band…………” equates Catholicism with rebellion.

  9. Qualifying from the CL was fantastic, but I have to admit seeing Benfica in the semi-final makes we wonder…

That is what I mean – it is the context that matters

When the Green Brigade sing The Paddy McCourt ditty are they being derogatory?

If someone opines “f%$”*^g Fenian B*$^*”d” then the context changes.

Fair point and again context is everything.

  11. On a serious note, the phrase “No Surrender” is not sectarian and has been used by both sides of the divide here. Equally “Our Day will Come” is not sectarian. However oglach at 10.39 got it spot on, there is no doubt that Charlie the Buffoon was pandering to a certain section of their support, same as when he dressed in the orange strip out in the States. He has shot his bolt now and the fact that a Club Sponsor have publicly commented on the use of the P*** word is telling. Mike Ashley will surely be having second thoughts re using his Company’s name for Ibrox. As with most things in life in the end its all about money. If Chuck is helping to bring in cash he will stay if he is a hindrance he will go.

I wondered about this too, but not being familiar with Mr Jackson’s penmanship I didn’t want to speculate. However, not that you have raised the point, I will just mention that one phrase in the article TBB posted had a very Traynorian ring to it.

It’s the bit where he says: “Well, let’s first examine how this narrative has developed since last Friday when the loathsome Craig Whyte burst back in through the front doors of Ibrox and lobbed a hand grenade at the foot of the old marble staircase.”

  13. If NFL said Tiocfaidh Ar La live on radio would he be asked to explain????????

    OF COURSE HE WOULD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its not what you say its in what context you say it

  14. 67Heaven ... I am Neil Lennon..!!.. Ibrox belongs to the creditors on

I am now supplementing my sedatives with paracetamol………

As I have been saying, £22m my erse…….they wre given shares at 1P before the flotation, and, once theassets were added, they were suddenly valued a 70p each …..LOL

…..And, WE NOW KNOW WHY THE CELTIC BOARD, AND EVERY OTHER SCOTTISH FOOTBALL CLUB REMAINED SILENT THROUGHOUT…..

…..And, the SFA, SPL are not accountable here….. The media, and noone else is to blame, with their collusive SILENCE for at least 12 years….

  15. Thats exactly the point leftclicktic, oglach said it earlier. If Lenny came out with that, the whole of Scotland would come to a halt.

  16. A Sevconian shouting ‘no surrender’ at me has about the same effect now as shouting ‘the big hoose must stay open.’

    Laughable.

However we all know what Chuckles was doing.

I completely agree. Context is everything in these matters. Words seldom have only 1 common meaning, they frequently have different meanings regionally and as for colloquially, god knows how many.

As commentators, when we say that something, for example a statement, is racist we are in fact saying that the statement shows or portrays the belief that one race is superior to another. This is the common meaning of the adjective racist.

Many of the phrases people decry as racist fail this test unless and until the context that the words were said in is introduced. Language is nuanced, people more so. We should therefore (pun alert, stop reading now is the gratuitous use of obvious word play offends) stop attempting to see both in terms of black and white… Boom!

  23. When Chuckles started his crusade he made a few, what he thought where, neutral and factual statements about the club being dead.

He quickly was attacked by the mongrel hordes and completely changed his tune and realised he could exploit them by using dog whistle politics. Clapping along with the if you hate the SFA in the first game, using bigots in interviews and now no surrender.

Whether it is sectarian or not he is using language to send a clear message to their support. Distraction tactics while everybody cheers or boos and lets them get on with the continued raping of the business and exploitation of the fans and investors.

Despite the now volte face by the MSM they are still not pressing for answers and investigatig. they are merely printing statements and or leaks.

Ahmeds comment in the Hun re £35M. Where has the figure came from? Never been mentioned that i know of but is now in public domain unquestioned that the original deal was £35M despite the cost being £5.5M and even by their wildest staatements the share issue was circa £20M. he has now lumped andother few million on.

He uses it to question Cragies paltry £137k and as he states I am sure it will come out in the courts but Chuckles has already admitted to putting down £250k to ensure that the business continued to allow his investors to be preferred bidders for CVA and then assets on liquidation.

Basic arithmetic would suggest that £137k is half of the £250k plus an additional amount to cover the expenses of the consortium until acquisition which would suggest that Craigie might have been a 50% investor. May be it is all just coincidence.

Surely given all the grief it would now be beneficial for Chuckles to list all the original investors as he has yet to do so.

In my opinion Miku has been a waste of time and money. He may have had a decent match v Barcelona but what else has he brought to the table?

He has scored a couple of goals but in the main he has done more complaining than playing. he has also limited our youngsters to game time which is not helpful. Lassad seems a better team player and maybe Miku is one in the long line of foreigners who just weren’t right for the style of play in Scotland or in the Celtic team. He has joined Paddy McCourt as the biggest waste of wages this season. When you have men in your squad who are at their peak age 27-31 they must either play or be moved on.

I have no idea why we are paying these guys to make up the numbers in training. That’s what the youths are for.

The only thing that Green/Whyte have brought to the table is embarrasment. I hope they stay in the limelight for a long time to come. The word dignity is being used less and less in relation to Ibrokes these days. They have none!

I hope this runs and runs. How is the share price looking this morning?
