Billy Dodds nails Rangers on tax

712

Billy Dodds, who was named by the BBC as a beneficiary of Rangers Employee Benefit Trust, wrote in today’s Sunday Herald on the subject.  He alleges Rangers paid him money, which should have been taxed as income, through an EBT.

Dodds wrote, “David Murray came to me and asked if I would receive a payment that was due to me, after tax, through the EBT trust.   And I said that I would.   It was money that was owing to me when I had six months left on my contract and I moved to Dundee United. After the tax was deducted, that money was put in the trust fund.”

What happened to the “tax… deducted” is the crucial question.  Dodds is clear.  This was money due to him through his contract of employment which should have been taxed.  The seriousness of the allegations against Rangers just cranked up a notch – and from a surprising source.

  1. I’ve read most of the blog’s post since Wednesday ………Just a quick point I’d like to highlight re: Mark Daly prog. that I thought was due consideration.

    35 mins into programme —

    Daly–“Lloyds bought HBOS… Murray’s bankers…and Lloyds was in for a shock..”

Ian Fraser–” They were horrified, they were absolutely horrified because they’d been hoodwinked, …I believe, by the board of HBOS led by Lord Stevenson ,….Andy Hornby had essentially duped them……had not revealed the true extent of the exposure to toxic assets including the Murray ones…..So they bought the bank under false pretences…….”

    …………

Daly– So how much trouble was SDM in………….?

” So If you look at the accounts to the year to July2009,….

    Isaacs– “The net debts increased to just under a £ 1 000 000 000

    at £ 942 000 000 ”

Just another one of many limbs to this scandal.

Great reading lately incidently. Thank you, one and all.

    Hail hail

  2. Collins scored 2 free kicks at Ibrox in his time at Celtic, strangely they were both from almost identical positions.

The first was in a 1-1 draw where Celtic supporters were banned from the stadium and the second was on a 2-0 win with the Maestro scoring the other.

Under Lou Macari we got a draw at ibrox, with no fans.

Which, I think, nullifies the argument about why we can’t boycott the bigotdome, “cos the team needs us”.

I remember when we scored late on to get a win at ibrokes under LouM.

I’m sure it was Brian O’Neill who scored with a header in the last minute, but we were there for that game.

    SPF

    …………………..

That was Macaris first game. Before te game he was saying Frank connor can do all the interviews etc as he’s pickng the team and its all down to Frank for the game.

We win and who’s doing all the pre-match interviews? I’ll give you a clue it wasn’t the only Celtic manager to have NEVER lost a game with 3 wins and a draw!

A complete and utter wee fud!

  5. Algarvian & ELDiegoBhoy….

John Collins scored on 3 successive league games at Ibrox.

The equaliser in a 2-1 win In October 1993 (Brian O’Neil scored a last minute winner). Frank Connor and Lou Macari were in the dugout.

In April 1994, when Murray did not allow the Celtic fans to attend (though some got in – more of that later!). John Collins scored a great free kick.

The following season, in August (Tommy Burns first game in charge v Rangers) John scored another free kick with Paul McStay making it 2-0.

Carl Muggleton kept 6 consecutive league clean sheets.

He only played 13 times for the first team.

So it would be a good money making ploy.

    +++++

Not really, you still need to invest very heavily. In the history of the EPL, only one team has ever really made loads of money without being front-loaded. In fact, those that have been front-loaded, have incurred losses that would see banks closing (a bit like one team in Scotland).

Done correctly, it could be a very steady income generator though, like that one team I mentioned above.

I watched bits of the england game last hight, and I can say that the england team playing tonight are just as good ,and much more entertaining.

  19. Just watching this charity game, it reminded of the Luis Figo charity game played at the Algarve stadium after Euro 2004.

It was like this game, a mixture of players, ex players, film stars. etc.

In the 2nd half, ‘Gazza’, the cheeky chappy, everybody’s pal, came on.

He was nutmegged by someone and ran after him and tried a vicious lunge on him.

The only time any booing was heard in the stadium all night.

Just seen the boys goal.Do you think the huns will try to sign him?The fact that he’s not a football player wont be too much of a problem as that’s never affected their signing policy before.
