We always think of ourselves as on the side of the underdog. Tomorrow, we are the protagonist against the world’s underdog. It does not matter that Shakhtar Donetsk are seeded higher than us, or recorded the kind of win in Germany last week that no Celtic team has ever been able to dream of, the world wants them to win.
Thousands of Ukrainian war refugees will pack into the Municipal Stadium, Warsaw, to express their strong nationhood and support Shakhtar. It will be an incredibly emotional night for all of them.
The first thing Ange Postecoglou and his players must do is consign all of that to the bin. They need to find similar oceans of resources available to their opponents. If we are not suitably aggressive against a formidable team, we will lose and face an uphill challenge to remain in Europe after the group stage. Draw, and progress to the Champions League knockout stages remains open.
What happens on the park will be determined by what happens in the minds of the Celtic players. To match Shakhtar, we must be compassionless, clinical and unforgiving. Sentiment and comradeship can wait until fulltime.

Help required for tomorrow evening
Any bars in Maspolomas likely to have the match on ?
Evening all.
With a couple of drinks in me, I think I could commit adultery with Big Judith. 🙂

Timbhoy163…Schved was brought in when James Forrest was flying (according to my memory) so was an absolutely unnecessary purchase eating into the transfer budget

I might have to be rude and give the answers later tonight, as the wife wants me to watch a film.

Getting in the mood for big game tomorrow – COYBIG.
A well run club, and let’s give this a go!
Ernie @ 6.53pm…as much as it pains me…I agree. ;-)) Not that it’s a revelation to those that have been following the narrative
In Stockport makes Greenock town Center like Rodeo drive. Anyway any idea where I can watch the game tomorrow?
BelmontBrian @ 6.56pm…Friday is now an official intervention ;-))

It’s got a link to an excellent piece by Phil Mac
When Canamalar first proposed the action on here which became RES 12, I stated it wasn’t worth the candle.
Well how wrong was I, almost a decade later but UEFA have now zoomed in on The Rangers financials.
The requisitioners and all those who supported them deserve huge praise.
Hail Hail
Provi…wow…thought they were deid…pretty sure there’s a class action suit against them under the unaffordable lending act
Don’t try and distract…Big Judith is a 20 pinter ;-)) plus she’s got better taste lol

Sporting score from a corner in 90th minute after Spurs keeper had made a great save turning goal bound shot round post.
Sporting Lisbon in the green n white 1-0 Spurs in blue.
COYBIG. WHO SCORE A SECOND. 2-0
Sporting score twice in 90th & 92nd minutes to beat Spurs 2-0.
Now for a meaningful game which could determine Huns future in CL
The minutes silence at Anfield will be interesting…

Danny Crainie.
Fred Colon, Fab I laughed out loud!
Ajax beating Liverpool might be a good result, Liverpool would need to step up in the double header…
Auldheid isn’t claiming that Res 12 had any bearing on the decision to put Sevco on a watch list. He’s claiming that they brought to Uefa’s attention that the old regs for overdue payables were flawed and open to abuse, and they’ve tightened them up with the new regs.
If you read the Uefa statement it’s clear – they are on a watch list, under closer scrutiny, because over the period that accumulated losses are calculated they needed Covid allowances to stay within the limits. Nothing to do with Resolution 12.
He isn’t claiming to have had any influence over the application of the old FFP regs

Stockport is an absolute dump. Best to take a train or bus to Levenshulme and go to Hennigans Sports Bar or Fiddlers Green. Both very near to train station and almost certain to have the game on.

Potatoes, Tomatoes ;-))

Silence observed by many but not by all.
Honedt to god…if they’re so worried about a minutes silence not being observed at fitba games…why not a minutes applause and those that don’t want to participate just sit still or protest as is their right
H.H.
30 seconds silence at Anfield….

In what world does someone have to be in stockport on a tuesday night, get yersel UP THE ROAD.
GG
The referee seemed to bring the silence to an end well short of a full minute. That and the commentators comments makes me think BT probably had their mics turned down.
Mo Salah gives Liverpool lead after16 minutes
Ajax defence was MIA.
Why don’t TV companies turn off the sound during a silence potential problems solved.
Or are they on the lookout to get offended?
Mazzy. Brings a complete new measurement to 60 seconds

As I said in my initial post- I support the general Green Party environmental policies but dissent from the Scottish Party’s Holy willie approach to identity politics. You described this as a dog at the Greens but were unaware of this issue.
How do you determine what you can change and what you can’t and in what time period you hope for the change to occur?
If everyone considers that elite power is immutable, any protest or dissent will, in the current moment, seem doomed to failure. The men that won most of Ireland back from 800 years of would have calculated that immediate English rule was not under threat or likely to be changed by their very limited Easter Rising but they created a crack into which others forced a larger breach and only six years later, The Brits left 26 county Ireland.
Lenin travelled, with German assistance, in a sealed train to Russia, hoping to ferment existing unrest and advance progressive politics but he barely foresaw the end of 400 years of Czarist rule.
Now, for you to declare me defeated and wildly overrun and bamboozled, you would have to start with the belief that I was making political posts on an obscure Celtic football blog in the hope of denting or overthrowing the growing sympathy for the monarchy and establishment continuity in the wake of Lizzie’s death.
That is a mistaken assumption (from which you derive mistaken conclusions, and, in passing, insult my intelligence).
I was merely voicing my opinion in the company of mostly like minded individuals in stating my dissent and decrying the hypocrisy I see and hear. The vast majority of people affected by the delusion of grief would not hear or read my words, far less change their behaviour as a result, But, in the moment, it was important for me to stand up and say, I beg to differ.
I could present it as a Stoic virtue; I changed the thing I could change by making me make my statement. That was the one thing I could influence.
Against the might of a uniformly compliant Broadcasting and Printing media, my singular voice would make no difference and be little noted. Nor would the other voices on CQN or on your preferred retreat, Sentinel Celts.
None of us will alter much or make much of a breach but we thought it worth doing.
But neither am I much enlightened by your imagined deflation of my imaginary ambitions.
What, exactly do you know can be changed and when?
P.S. The Stoics , or some of them, believed that we ought not to be disturbed by the death of a loved one (or an imagined loved one) because it is such a small thing in a large cosmos.
Therefore, a true Stoic should, perhaps, spend even less time on trying to educate what he imagines are the delusions of others on such grieving, lest, like much of philosophical thought it spirals quickly up a smelly orifice.
———————————————-
Now, I can speculate stoically on our chances against a Ukrainian team in Poland.
I don’t expect my thoughts to influence the outcome so you could leave that part of your response untyped.
