The calm authority of the rock-like American international centre-back is sorely missed with the Hoops failing to keep a clean sheet since Wilfried Nancy took over seven games ago.
The wobbly Hoops rearguard have leaked 15 goals in that run while also suffering five defeats, the most recent coming at Fir Park last night when Motherwell eased to a deserved 2-0 triumph.
Carter-Vickers, who has been stricken with Achilles tendon problems and has missed the last 16 games, will watch the Glasgow derby against Danny Rohl’s Ibrox side from the Parkhead stand on Saturday in the first game of 2026.

The centre-back, who cost the Hoops £6million when he joined in the summer of 2022 after an impressive season-long loan from Spurs, will be hoping for a Celtic win at the weekend as an ideal, if belated, birthday gift.
