CARL STARFELT is aiming for a double celebration over the course of the next three days.
The Swedish international central defender, who was one of Ange Postecoglou’s first recruits for Celtic when he arrived in a £4.2million move from Rubin Kazan in July 2021, will blow out 28 candles on his birthday cake today.
And Starfelt hopes to bring down the curtain on a second memorable season at Parkhead by playing his part in another Hoops success story when they take on Inverness Caley Thistle in the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden on Saturday evening.
NUMBER ONE…Carl Starfelt thumps his first-ever Celtic goal past Kilmarnock keeper Sam Walker in the 5-0 win at Rugby Park in August.
NUMBER TWO…Carl Starfelt blows kisses to the fans as he joins in the nine-goal rampage at Tannadice.
NUMBER THREE…Carl Starfelt is high and mighty as he thunders in a header in the 5-0 Flag Day triumph over Aberdeen in the last league game of a second successive title-winning season.
The player has been a key man in Postecoglou’s back-four ever since his arrival, but he has added to his strengths in this campaign.
Starfelt netted his first goal for the club in the 5-0 win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on August 14 and enjoyed the sensation so much he repeated the feat a fortnight later when he headed in one of the champions’ nine goals in the romp against Dundee United at Tannadice.
He completed his elongated hat-trick with another bullet-like header in the 5-0 Flag Day triumph over Aberdeen at Parkhead at the weekend.
Happy birthday, Carl. Enjoy your celebrations – at the double!
