BITTON BACKS COMMONS

CELTIC midfielder Nir Bitton insists team-mate Kris Commons has nothing to prove.

And the Israeli admits Ronny Deila’s side are simply relying on a greater number of goalscorers this season.

Commons has not been used as frequently by Deila as he was at Celtic last campaign, leading to speculation about his future – his contract expires at the end of the season.
But Bitton is defiant about Commons and the Hoops team as a whole.

The 23-year-old said: “Kris Commons is a very good player who doesn’t need to prove anything to anybody.
“When you have a player like Kris, who scored 30-35 goals last year, it gave us a lot of opportunities to close the games early.
“This year we don’t have one guy who has scored a lot of goals, but Anthony Stokes and John Guidetti score maybe seven to ten each.
“This year we play more as a team and that’s what the gaffer wants for us.”
