BITTON BATTLES BACK

NIR BITTON has stepped up his comeback bid in an effort to play his first game this season.

The Israeli midfielder has been out of action since February with a knee injury and has been working his way back to full fitness.

Bitton played for the Celtic’s reserves against Hibs at Cappielow yesterday where goals from Wallace Duffy and Jack Aitchison gave them a 2-2 draw after they had trailed 2-0.

He played for 75 minutes before being taken off and the Hoops coaching staff will now analyse the after-effects following a good work-out against an Easter Road outfit that leapt into a two-goal lead inside half-an-hour with efforts from Yrik Galantes and Ruari Paton.

Second-half strikes from Duffy and Aitchison earned a stalemate.

Boss Brendan Rodgers hasn’t set any comeback dates for Bitton, but their could be a first team appearance after the turn of the year.
