Blame it on the Celtic

It is great having big game players, those who can raise the tempo to match greater challenges, Moussa was a classic of this genre, but watching the first half on Friday, the flip side of that mentality appeared evident.  St Mirren were in a big game, and showed it, Celtic were going through the motions.  I expect normal service to resume for Rosenborg on Thursday, but we better resolve this symptom before travelling to Perth on League Cup duty.

Hearts boss, Ann Budge, must have taken the weekend off to celebrate her team being top of the league, as she has allowed video of sectarian chanting by Hearts fans leaving Fir Park on Saturday to pass without comment.  Never slow to shine a light elsewhere, if she would rather not address this festering feature when things are going so well, you can be sure it is there to stay.

On John McGinn choosing Aston Villa over Celtic………  When he made his decision I wrote that after speaking to both teams, he went to Villa because he wanted to play first team football.  Unlike reports elsewhere, he didn’t move south because Celtic would not meet his wage demands (thinking in particular of Scott McDonald flogging this on Radio Scotland).

The player gave newspaper interviews to several Scottish Sundays confirming, “Playing regularly was the biggest factor in choosing Aston Villa over Celtic, says John McGinn”, as The Herald put it.  But that doesn’t fit the narrative, so will soon be forgotten.

Don’t blame it on the football.
Don’t blame it on the career advice.
Don’t blame it on the reality.
Blame it on the Celtic.  Lots of others do.

What’s the point of Celtic?

Winter is approaching, the time when the Celtic FC Foundation does some of its most important work.  It is also the time of greatest need.  I know the challenge ahead for those who work through the Foundation.  There is enormous poverty in our own communities.

I signed up for the Great Scottish Run, which takes place in Glasgow on 30 September, in aid of the Foundation.  I have not run as far as a Half Marathon in over a year, I ran a few miles short on Saturday before giving up.  But I know what those who will be helped by the Foundation will be like in December. Some things are worth the work.

We need to do something, otherwise what’s the point of Celtic?  We both know it’s not just about football.  Work on the big winter projects is already underway, if you can help by sponsoring me, please do so here.

Thank you.

I saw George Peat’s one-man show on the life of Marcel Marceau at the ole Burns Howff. Tuna sandwiches at the interval.

What a waste of mime and tunny that was.

I don`t find Bada`s Weather Girl attractive at all. I only tell you that to soften any disappointment you may feel if you ever see her.

    Lighthearted Csc

    Cheerio for now.

there are serious consequences for agents who do not stick to the rules, such as licence being withdrawn, so aye, they need permission from the club to find other clubs

They will be the only people in worldwide football who play to the rules then?

    Thanks for that!

  5. Phil

Canamalar and Neganon are both good West End Glasgow Celtic men. They are not one and the same. Glad they are questioning Tims, and not gullible, easily led men, like the huns are. Power to both of them.

  6. Here big chap, you can Lead a camel to the oasis but you canny beat

    your wife.

Is that how the saying goes.

NEGANON has been neganonning for years, no doubt in the hope that his Cassandra performance will come true.

CANALMAR is very much in the KEVJ mould.

  8. We have circa 33 first team players. That’s nearly enough to put three teams on the park.

Why do we not utilise them when we are struggling? And if they’re not good enough, why don’t we get rid of them.

Sentiment cannot be allowed to play a part as the wage bill must be massive for virtually no gain.

  9. Philbhoy what story do you want to go with? Is it

Paul’s made up story despite his previous made up story about getting games?

    Or Hibs won’t sell

    Or something else

Or how about Rodgers telling us all via his press conferences how frustrated he was getting.?

    Make up your mind.

Moderator once again turkeybhoy is launching personal attacks. Now anyone who disagrees with him is mentally ill and I say creepy. While I am sure turkeybhoy is just following an old line peddled by the racist media in Scotland that post should once again be deleted?

naw you can lead the camel to the oasis then beat your wife is how they saying goes out here, but then you’ve got to sleep sometime.

  11. What a disgrace that BBC give Peat a platform to spout this nonsense again – and don’t even challenge him on it.

This is the equivalent of an old drunk at the bar railing against whoever walks in the door.

A Sevco show, run by a Sevco fan, aimed at Sevco fans, following a Sevco agenda.

Only interesting thing is: why now? Something about to happen down there?

  12. The irony of BBC Scotland asking George Peat about fans having faith in the SFA !

On the McGinn debate. I’m sure we matched the asking price of £2.7 million.

The problem was that, at the time he was sitting in Birmingham. We matched their wage offer. The agent then asked Villa to increase their offer as Celtic were hoping to get him back up the road for a medical. They then significantly improved their wage offer. He signed with Villa.

What we don’t know is , would Hibs have accepted a £2.7million offer from Celtic without Villa being involved ?

Whatever happened , Brendan was pissed off .

  13. I don’t get the leat story on the bbc. From memory when Celtic got to Seville the sfa refused any extension despite almost identical circumstances. Of course the sfa told us to F off. Then a few years later desperately tried to help the Hun.

The weird thing is why this “story” has suddenly appeared.

If Celtic had balls they could go to town with deadwits like this.

But they. Just love the racism because it’s sooooo good for business.

  14. NEGANON2

The next HOOTENANNY is 10th November.

    Please come along.

    Just for a blether.

Life’s too short for Tims not to get on.

I will shake your hand and buy you a beer.

And just have a good chat.

    About the Celtic, whatever.

    Be there or be skwerr!

You and I support the Leather Belts differently too, but support we do in our own ways. Have met you and Canamalar. I am from Partick like Canamalar and attended the same school as him. I am non trusting of the Celtic PLC. Was taught by parents and great teachers to never swallow the hype, question everything, and make my own conclusions. Glad they educated me that way.

  16. At last clarity, that saying didn’t make any sense to me. it’s like I’ve been reborn and can now focus on whats important.

McIntyre was feeding him lines,at least the Hun myth of the season not being extended was put to bed….

There is a lot about the board I am not comfortable with too.

The only way I can make my feelings known to the board is to boycott games and stores.

    Should I do that?

  19. Philbhoy I will take you up on that. Been too long since I met some of you. Perhaps a proper discussion can disabuse you of your sychphancy.

In the meantime I reckon all of turkeybhoy rather. Angry and abusive posts should be deleted.

  20. I know most of you don’t agree with anything Neg or Canamalar says, but they are making you think, if not on a conscious level, sub conscious for sure.

    Keep at them you two.

Oh and the reason I mentioned John McGinn is I was responding to Paul’s leader and Peter Lawwell’s alter ego that is Big Boy, they are still pushing the line that it was nothing to do with our CEO.

Fake news eh, who would have thunk it.
