Blinkered Views risky punt against St Mirren

1113

In his Bookies Corner article for the current issue of CQN Magazine, columnist, Blinkered Views, suggested St Mirren offered good value for a punt on relegation.  I spoke to him when he submitted the article and suggested, “Surely Dunfermline?”  He agreed Dunfermline were most likely for the drop but they offered no value.  St Mirren, on the other hand, were 9/1 for the drop and he made a good case why this was worth a bet.

St Mirren promptly spoiled Christmas for thousands (not your or me) by coming from behind to beat Rangers but that has been their only win in 8 league games.  We also don’t need to be reminded that when visiting St Mirren Park, form is a poor guide.  Celtic exited the Scottish Cup there a week after beating Saints 7-0 at Celtic Park.  They are a team who can raise their game for the big occasion and the visit of Celtic, live on TV, is as big as it gets around Paisley.

Paddy McCourt has enjoyed his visits there and has been key to Celtic collecting the points a couple of times.  Don’t be surprised if he makes a match winning appearance from the bench.

You are right but, as you know the strength of their hatred, I am surprised that this decision was a surprise to you.

It was utterly predictable, as were the briefings circulated by the senior management of all scottish (and national bbc) media outlets to make sure that his surname was pronounced as chelic.

The hatred or paranoia of being accused of being a fenian lover is widespread and manifest throughout scotland!

Nothing within the mainstream is happening to challenge the bigots whose views hold sway!

  2. Jimmci, my point exactly as a Hack employed in a dying business due to the rise of new media and wonderful sites like this you can hear the distain in his voice whenever he speaks of the internet, but now apparenltly its a wonderful source for scouting players and deducing that he’ll be a great signing!!!! What an ahole!

Seriously? This one has taken even me by surprise, although I suppose it really shouldn’t have. With things as they stand at Ibrox right now, I cannot believe there are people inside that club who have chosen to care about this.

It’s staggering. There is a disease at that club, and it could be tackled, and elimated, but instead is nurtured and fed and encouraged.

    It takes my breath away.

When I heard Murray’s defence of the boogeyman that he didn’t feel threatened by his continued manhandling at their game of shame last year, I realised the game was still (and remains) a bogey.

They will do whatever they can get away with and only Celtic are likely to oppose minimal punishment for them.

And, if Celtic do oppose, (and I hope they do), most people in scotland will have us as the bad guys and the huns will be portrayed as poor, defenceless victims.

We will have to fight for our (football) life or go elsewhere!

We dont seem to have a game that weekend. Maybe it’s set aside for Scottish Cup?
