Blinkered Views risky punt against St Mirren

1113

In his Bookies Corner article for the current issue of CQN Magazine, columnist, Blinkered Views, suggested St Mirren offered good value for a punt on relegation.  I spoke to him when he submitted the article and suggested, “Surely Dunfermline?”  He agreed Dunfermline were most likely for the drop but they offered no value.  St Mirren, on the other hand, were 9/1 for the drop and he made a good case why this was worth a bet.

St Mirren promptly spoiled Christmas for thousands (not your or me) by coming from behind to beat Rangers but that has been their only win in 8 league games.  We also don’t need to be reminded that when visiting St Mirren Park, form is a poor guide.  Celtic exited the Scottish Cup there a week after beating Saints 7-0 at Celtic Park.  They are a team who can raise their game for the big occasion and the visit of Celtic, live on TV, is as big as it gets around Paisley.

Paddy McCourt has enjoyed his visits there and has been key to Celtic collecting the points a couple of times.  Don’t be surprised if he makes a match winning appearance from the bench.

Sammi for 2 Million, come on man that is crazy talk. :)

Sammi has been the great enigma and IMO we are very close to unlocking this lads full potential. The love that Sammi has for Celtic is very deep and he has deep scars to prove it. Thankfully, I don’t think Neil shares your view on the man, and I mean that with the greatest of respect.

Great managers get these kind of players playing at the top of their game for them and I am seeing it starting to happen with Georgios Samaras.

Selling Hooper for 9 Million would also be a very dangerous thing to do at this stage, his price tag will not fall so there is absolutely no need to sell him now. A Treble with the Hoops would be a heck of a lot for Hoops to give up, that is a total non starter IMO. As Neil says, if they offer totally stupid money like double that, then yeah you can’t say no to that but we Must win this title and that means no sales. They are all at the age where they can only increase in value the more successful we become.

  5. right seriously, and this is a serious point ,

one of the things i like about CQN is the way we sort of cover eahc others backs, give a wee nod to each other, and is someone disappears from the blog for a while, someone allways ask =s “anyone heard from …… and hows he doing”

its a safety net, a catch all.

makes me feel kinda safe in the knowledge, that should something bad befall me then someone will at lease enquire on here as to how i am doing and has anyone seen saint stivs.

I watched the Celtic throughout the 70s and remembered that George’s first goal was in a European game, so took a punt and I got lucky.
