Blood on the brogues

The resignation of Charles Green from his post as Rangers International chief executive last month was more curious for what it wasn’t – a resignation from the board.  Green retained his position as a director of the club.  This was always likely to have consequences.

BBC report this morning that club chairman, Malcolm Murray, who media outlets loyal to Green reported innuendo against earlier this year, in what was viewed as an attempt to discredit and ultimately remove him, yesterday lost a vote of confidence at a board meeting.

I am certain the vote of confidence was called by Murray himself after he informed the board, including Charles Green, of how he intends to deal with the important matters surrounding the club at this time.  In particular, what he plans to do with information received from Pinsent Masons and forensic accountants from Deloitte.  The investigation underway by Pinsents and Deloittes is only taking place at the insistence of Murray.

The innuendo against Murray was inappropriate and part of a dirty tricks campaign against the man by those who do not have Rangers best interests at heart [the irony is searing].  The normal reaction to losing a vote of confidence is to resign and let your opponents deal with the consequences of their actions.  Murray may feel he has done all he can for the club (or company, if that is how some would like to start calling the entity now). Those who invested in Craig Whyte’s various claims last month will enormously encouraged.

On Friday I’ll be joined by Phil Mac Giolla Bhain and Paul McConville at the Columba Club, Blantyre, for what is certain to be an enjoyable Question and Answer event.  Tickets, £5 each, for the Columba Charitable Fund, are available at the door.  I’m really looking forward to it.  See you there.

Like a Labour Scottish Secretary of state (Jim Murphy) doing all he could helping Oldco in 2007 with their disciplinary cases at UEFA or in 2009 holding talks with Oldco’s bankers to save them or Labour cooncillors having all expenses paid trips to see the Rangers

Ogilvie is the constant throughout this national disgrace!

And as long as he is in situ it will continue!

@rfc_dickson Any comment on how much Ally’s Idaho Challenge is costing? Is RCF underwriting cost? How much has it raised so far?

On the expenses case all parties were cleared by Audit Scotland after a lengthy investigation

If Jim Murphy is asked to intervene as a consequence of his job what do you suggest he do come out and say no can do because I am a Celtic fan. The question you should ask what was the result of their intervention and how far was it pushed.

Like all these football interventions you lose many more votes than you gain.

Me personally SDM threatened me with being personally named at the AGM because I was not helping oldco enough and I was back in 2008 asking the Bomber Brown question who actually owned Ibrox and the car park.

Maybe I was not helpful enough I never backed down he could not provide the information required thus no deal with GCC

    Hopefully worth the wait

  17. As we await the implosion/explosion (who gives a feck which it is) there is also talk on the blog also about Celtic charity work, 1254125, etc.

I’m rubbish at organising/collecting sponsorship and monies for charity, but on 9th. June I’ll be going over to Barra to start a cycle on the Monday from Castlebay (Barra) up to Stornoway (Lewis), a minimum distance of 138 miles over five days though it will probably be longer as me and my mate will do a bit of sightseeing, weather permitting.

If anyone wants to ‘use’ me as a basis for sponsorship I’m fine with that. Just an idea.

  26. Dontbrattbakkinanger,

I enjoyed Team of Rivals too. I thought Spielberg’s film and Day-Lewis’s portrayal served Lincoln well and captured the essence of the book, even though it centred on a small episode of the story.
