BLOW AS BOLI, ROGIC MISS OUT

BOLI BOLINGOLI and Tom Rogic are both OUT of tonight’s Europa League Group E meeting with Lazio in Rome.

The Belgian left-back came off at half-time in the 5-2 Betfred League Cup win over Hibs at the weekend when he was replaced by Jonny Hayes.

The Australian midfielder started the Hampden clash ahead of Ryan Christie, who had a slight knee problem, but neither Bolingoli nor Rogic made the trip to Italy.

Neil Lennon also left Leigh Griffiths and Mikey Johnston, who was in the squad for the tie against the Easter Road outfit, at home in Glasgow.

With Bolingoli missing, it means the Hoops are likely to start with the either the versatile Hayes or £2.25million summer signing Greg Taylor.

The former Kimarnock Scotland international has struggled for game-time since arriving at the champions and only made his debut in the 2-0 victory over St Mirren last week. He was Cup-tied for the Hibs match.

Griffiths trained at Celtic Park yesterday morning, but isn’t ready to for a return to action after being missing since August.

Christie is now likely to start against the Italians and boss Lennon, speaking to the Daily Record, said: “In the context of the group, it’s an important game.

“So much quality in both the sides. It’s my first time in Rome taking the team, so it is very special. It’s a game we’re very excited and very motivated for.

“Lazio’s form is very good, another great win in the San Siro on Sunday, so we’re under no illusions about how big the job is as we try and go for a result.

“The players are in great form themselves, they’ve played very well domestically. We currently top the group, that can change very quickly, but we’re here to try and get a positive result.

“Our players have played in intimidating atmospheres, so I don’t think it’ll effect the mindset too much. We’re here to play the game and not the occasion.”

Celtic overcame Lazio 2-1 a fortnight ago with goals from Ryan Christie and Christopher Jullien while keeper Fraser Forster denied the Italians a stoppage-time equaliser with a breathtaking save.
