BLOW AS DEFENDER IS RULED OUT

HATEM ABD ELHAMED is OUT of this afternoon’s Premiership meeting with Motherwell at Parkhead.

The Israeli international defender limped off during the second-half of Thursday night’s historic 2-1 Europa League Group E win over Lazio in Rome.

Elhamed was replaced by Nir Bitton seven minutes from the end after over-stretching and boss Neil Lennon admitted he was a doubt for the visit of the Fir Parkers.

He had a scan on his groin strain yesterday and part of the right-back’s post on social media revealed: “Bad News this morning, but I will be back stronger.”

Jeremie Frimpong and Moritz Bauer are on stand-by to take over against Stephen Robinson’s side who lost 5-2 at home earlier in the season to the eight-in-a-row champions.

The exciting Dutch teenager, who was signed from Manchester City on transfer deadline day, has figured in four first team games that have seen the Hoops collect TWENTY goals – Partick Thistle (5-9), Ross County (6-0), Aberdeen (4-0) and Hibs (5-2). He claimed his first strike for the club in the victory against the Dons at Pittodrie.

Austrian international Bauer, on a season-long loan from Stoke City, came on as a late substitute for James Forrest at the Olympic Stadium during the week.
