Boli off the books at last

91

In retrospect, there was so much wrong at Celtic during season 2020-21, that the destructive antics of Boli Bolingoli had no bearing on the outcome.  At the time, however, it felt like a body blow.  As restrictions of the first lockdown were lifting, the football industry was granted permission to mix inside their own bubble, but they were prohibited from mixing with the general population.

Bolingoli broke these rules by taking a short trip to Spain, then made a substitute appearance for Celtic at Rugby Park, before news of his actions broke.  He has been sent out on loan twice since, and, on other occasions, used sparingly only when the squad was depleted by illness and isolation.

Yesterday he left Celtic for the last time, securing a two year deal with Mechelen.  He will not be back to do the Paradise Windfall draw.  Whatever Celtic got wrong in 2020-21, unlike some, they did not duck and dive when it came to public health rules.

Celtic face Czech side Banik Ostrava this evening, as part of their centenary celebrations.  They finished fifth last season, well adrift of Slavia, Sparta and champions, Viktoria Plzen.  As a guide to their aptitude, Jablonec, who we beat home and away in August in Europa League qualification, finished eighth.  In fitness terms, Banik should be ahead of Celtic, with six games already under their belt, so I expect this game will take a toll on the players.

Fun fact: Wikipedia notes Banik have had 31 managers since the Millennium and are on their third boss of the year.

  1. Whatever happened to the rumour that the club were going to buy the Emirates complex from GCC?

Were we put off by the one man picket outside shouting no spending required.

The Springfield Vaults is good enough for me — 50 years and counting.

  2. MM,

A joint partnership with the Emirates would be advantageous and create a real hub.

Just look at the change on our approach to CP over the last few decades. Its almost unrecognisable.

However there is much to do.

    Continued investment reaps reward.

treatment of him by the club was a disgrace

some reckon it also contributed to the dressing room unrest – could easily see why

Got some numbers on the funding of a new Main Stand.

Investor Lounge — £48mill bond funding / 192 seats plus lounge.

Target to aim for — best seats in the house / every CFC game.

Now to find enough millionaires …

What you putting in the 80% tarmac around the stadium, good face painters are limited these days, even on Celtic match days. The superstore might draw critique from you and Prince Charles though red sandstone and superstores? Maybe we should have kept the old school, but like other things it was easier to flatten. The problem apart from getting into the Kerrydale Dale was getting the supporters out, and into their seats, though I agree the fan zone has to be done properly and with taste.

I think anybody that flies 5K miles to see their idols already knows that there’s no Museum and the Springy Vaults upgrade only. Some Celtic fans laughed out loud at the hotel and museum statement – who knew eh?

P.s. The Celtic Superstore is open worldwide 24/7

Wee Fergus wanted to buy the Celtic Supporters Club at Barrowfield, to use for the Club, and move them to a huge Celtic Supporters club,at exactly where the Emirates is, he said it annoyed him, going to CP on a matchday, and passing pubs packed with folk going to the game, would have been a great moneymaker for the Club, but those in charge of the CSC at the time refused……

You are a member of the Anti Destination League — matchdays excepted — everybody should sit at home like battery hens and get their stuff off the web.

No museum — everybody knows that we are slumming it and visitor investment is not for the likes of us?

Aye right — to lots of visitors from more enlightened / advanced societies will be surprised to see the state of the stadium area.

It really is a low rent offering that shames our board.

Theres goals in that team, as it is Pre-Season, there wullnae be as many as Celtic put past Aiberdeen on the first game of the new Season, IMO.

I’ve always bet goals+ and I’m pretty sure over 2.5 first half Celtic goals won’t even give you any value after a handful (or even less) of games.
