EVERGREEN James Forrest has signed a new one-year deal which will run until the summer of 2026.
The 33-year-old winger made his Hoops first-team debut in May 2010 and celebrated the occasion by scoring in the 4-0 win over Motherwell at Parkhead.
That was the first of over 100 goals for the Scotland international who racked up over 500 appearances on his way to picking up a remarkable haul of TWENTY-FOUR honours.
Forrest is second only to Lisbon Lion Bobby Lennox as the most decorated Celt of all time.
RIGHT ON…James Forrest fires in a shot in Celtic’s 2-1 win over Ross County in Dingwall last month.
The veteran raider, who could face his brother Alan when the champions take on Hearts at Tynecastle this evening, told Celtic TV: “It’s unbelievable. I’ve loved every minute of being here, from being a wee boy coming through the youth and all the ups that I’ve had playing for the first team.
“I’m just delighted that I’ve managed to work hard and, hopefully, I can keep contributing to the team for another year.
“There have always been great players and managers at this club and being a part of it is a great feeling. Once I finish my career, I’ll properly look back and think about it all.
“When you’re in the bubble of it, there’s nothing better than playing and winning things here.”
Boss Brendan Rodgers added: “James has given everything to Celtic and so much to me personally, but, make no mistake, he has so much more to give.
THAT’S MY BHOY…Brendan Rodgers congratulates James Forrest after his display in Celtic’s 2-0 league win over Hibs at Easter Road in August.
“I look at last season and this one already and see a player undoubtedly who will still deliver for us.
“He is a born winner, someone with such talent and desire and I know he can play a hugely important role in bringing us continued success.
“His heart and passion will always be with Celtic and I am so pleased he has decided to extend his contract.”
Forrest will be a man on a mission if he gets the nod to face Hearts tonight. The forward has yet to score this season after netting in every previous campaign since his breakthrough over 14 years ago.
