BOSS AND SKIPPER BACK NEW BHOY

NEW Bhoy Jack Hendry will have learned very quickly what life at Celtic is all about after the 1-0 reverse against Kilmarnock on Saturday.

That’s the verdict of Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers who swooped to sign the 22-year-old central defender from Dundee just before the midweek transfer deadline.

Hendry made a quickfire debut, but was hindered when BOTH of his back-three defensive partners Dedryck Boyata and Kristoffer Ajer limped off in the first-half.

Despite the disappointment, Rodgers was encouraged by Hendry’s display.

He said: “It was a good game for him to come into. He is getting used to his team-mates.

“He will certainly feel after this game the expectations of what it is about. But I thought he did fine.”

Skipper Scott Brown added: “Jack has been around the lads in training in the past few days and has done well. He also did well in the game.

“He has got good ability on the ball, defends really well and has pace as well so he will definitely grow into the position.”

New CQN Podcast with special guest Neil Lennon

A Celtic State of Mind presents its 33rd instalment of insightful discussion around the culture of Celtic Football Club, the city of Glasgow, and fans of the reigning treble-winning Scottish champions.

Paul John Dykes is joined by Neil Lennon, who spoke as part of the ‘Legends of Football’ event at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall a few weeks ago.

Neil discusses his early life in Lurgan, signing for Manchester City and then Crewe, before Martin O’Neill entered his life when he took him to Filbert Street in 1996. His time under O’Neill at Leicester and then Celtic is covered extensively, as is his Celtic Park managerial career, which takes in the famous victory against Barcelona in 2012.

The CQN Podcast has gone from strength-to-strength over the last few months, and there are many more guests lined up in the weeks ahead from the world of sport, music, film, art, broadcasting, literature and politics.
