BOSS EXPLAINS NO-SHOW BOLI

BOLI BOLINGOLI has not featured in 2020 after his disappointing display in the loss against Steven Gerrard’s side at Parkhead just before the turn of the year.

Boss Neil Lennon has revealed the Belgian left-back is NOT injured and has simply been overlooked for his first-team squads.

Bolingoli, who arrived in a £3million deal from Rapid Vienna in the summer, has dropped behind Greg Taylor and Jonny Hayes in the pecking order for the No.3 position.

Lennon explained the defender’s absence when he was asked for an update on his situation with a reporter querying if he was carrying an injury.

The Irishman, speaking to the Daily Record, replied: “No, he’s just not in the squad at the minute.

“You know, he’s just having a bit of time out to get his top form back.”

Lennon singled out Scotland international Taylor, who joined in a £2.25million switch from Kilmarnock on the summer transfer deadline day, for special praise following the 3-0 win over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on Wednesday.

The player was making only his sixth start for the top side and sparkled in rain-lashed Perth as he fired over a string of inviting crosses and set up the third goal for Leigh Griffiths with a brilliant delivery.

Lennon added: “That was his best performance for me. He can be delighted with it.”

Taylor is now looking forward to getting the nod again from the Hoops gaffer to feature against Hamilton Accies on Sunday afternoon.
