LEEDS boss Steve Evans admits he is flattered to be linked with the managerial position at Celtic.
However, the lifelong Hoops fan insisted his only concern is his role at Elland Road
Glasgow-born Evans, a former Clyde player, said: “I think it is flattering for any manager or head coach to be linked with any job.
“But you can’t let it take any focus away from the job in hand. Our only focus is Hull City on Saturday and when we are finished with Hull it will be Charlton.
“I’ve been a Celtic fan since I was two seconds old. I’ll always be a Celtic fan.
“Celtic is an iconic football club, but Leeds United is also an iconic football club, so my real focus and only focus is representing this famous club.
“I’ve made no secret of the fact I want to be head coach at Leeds next season.
“I won’t get involved in any speculation about what may or may not be.”
Evans is never likely to be considered for the vacancy to replace Ronny Delia at Celtic.
The Leeds manager speaks very well about our club and the fact that he’s even mentioned by the media for the job shows that they have absolutely no idea at the criteria Celtic have set for the new manager.
That’s pleasing in itself.
Have you ordered your SIGNED copy of the new Charlie Gallagher biography from CQN Books, which is out next week?
Charlie Gallagher? What a Player! is written by Celtic historian David Potter and is a hugely enjoyable read. Charlie still goes to see Celtic every week on the local supporters bus from Bishopbriggs and is a familiar sight outside Celtic Park on match days where he holds court with that other well known Lisbon Lion John Fallon, at the doors to the Celtic Pools offices.
Charlie is held in the highest regard by the Celtic support and those old enough to have had the privilege to watch him play in the Hoops certainly agree with the title of this great book, Charlie Gallagher? What a Player!
