‘BOYATA HEADING FOR TURKEY’

DEDRYCK BOYATA has rejected the chance to move to Sevilla to prepare to sign for Fenerbahce, according to reports from Turkey.

The AWOL Celtic star, who hasn’t played for the Hoops since the 2-0 Scottish Cup Final win over Motherwell in May, is out of contract in the summer.

It looks as though there is now way back for the Belgian defender after he missed last week’s Champions League exit against AEK in Athens and last night’s Europa League play-off against Suduva in Lithuania.

Brendan Rodgers claimed the 27-year-old World Cup centre-back wasn’t prepared mentally or physically for the trip this week.

Spanish giants Sevilla have been tracking the former Manchester City player over the summer, but the press in Turkey – where the media have a reputation in being one-sided – insist he is ready to agree a four-year deal with Fenerbahce.

All this, of course, could be news to Celtic who rejected a £9million bid from Fulham earlier this month for Boyata.

There are still 10 months to run on his contract and unless he has been given permission by the club to talk to interested parties then there is no way he should be in discussions with anyone.

However, it increasingly looks as though he has no future at Parkhead although boss Rodgers has huge problems before the visit of Hamilton Accies on Sunday.

Jozo Simunovic limped out of last night’s 1-1 draw with an ankle injury while Jack Hendry remained at home after sustaining a strain against Partick Thistle on Saturday.
