BOYATA IN BELGIUM CALL-UP

CELTIC central defender Dedryck Boyata has been named in Belgium’s squad to face Mexico and Japan next week.

The stopper was praised by Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers, despite his error in judgement which gifted Bayern Munich the lead in the 2-1 Champions League defeat at Parkhead on Tuesday night.

Boyata’s blip has not prevented international gaffer Roberto Martinez naming him in his 28-man squad for the friendlies.

The classy centre-back has earned three caps for his country since making his debut in 2010 against Austria, winning his second cap six years later against Portugal in March 2016.

Martines has named him alongside the likes of Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgians have already qualified for next summer’s World Cup Finals and Boyata is determined to make the squad heading for Russia.
