Boycott call as Celtic fans money promised to re-establish Rangers

1670

The Gang of 10 SPL club who will meet next week will decide whether or not we have a morally sound and ethically administered league. The meeting wasn’t announced three hours before overtures were being made on terms a Rangers Newco would be prepared to agree to in order to win their backing.

Effectively, the other 10 will asked to hold their noses, put all moral judgement aside and tell Rangers Newco the terms they need to agree to in order to get back into the SPL, retain their history and limit consequences of the alleged improper registration of players. Some of those hoping to front a Rangers Newco are prepared to do whatever is necessary to get back on a level playing field with those who have spent the last 20 years playing honest football and paying their taxes.

The question to be considered is not just what is ethically right in sport; it’s more personal than that. This is about what is going to happen to your money, the football club that defines who you are, and your relationship with the game for the rest of your life.

The schemers and cheats are not beaten and they are not going to give up. There is no honour, no ‘dignity’, no moral compass that understands there are consequences for decades of rampant abuse. All there is, is a sense of entitlement that I struggle to comprehend.

That sense of entitlement is about to promise bucket loads of your cash to someone else in order to restore the old certainties. This time, they are not even going to use the tax man’s money, they are going to use YOUR money. The money you put into the game will be distributed and used to flush the smaller clubs, who will in turn restore Rangers to their position of ascendency.

This is not sport, it’s a disgusting abuse of Celtic fans. You are not even being asked, you are being expected to open your wallets and pay whatever price it takes to put Rangers back on top.

I have never called for a boycott of a newspaper, never mind a football game, but this is not football anymore. We cannot be party to this. It is not a passing-issue either. Rules are being made with consequences that could last 100 years.

You have suffered from decades of malpractice and have earned the right to go to Ibrox in two weeks to enjoy the reflection of honest endeavour. After this, our next away game will be at Kilmarnock. If the Gang of 10 attempt an insurrection using your money, join me in a picket outside Celtic Park when these tickets are available for sale, and outside the away gates at Rugby Park on game day, to explain to Celtic fans the consequences of supporting the clubs who would use your money to establish a new Rangers.

Unite and bring the full power of Celtic against those who would rather do a deal with the devil than establish an honest, even, playing field.

If the Gang of 10 give Rangers Newco their way, using your money, we cannot go back to an away game, not this season, not ever. We must demand this discipline from each other and insist the club refuse all away tickets.

Having paid our taxes, registered footballers in an honest manner and brought international acclaim to Scottish football, the Celtic Movement is being corrupted by the lowest common denominator.

Our magnificent sporting institution is being destroyed. For the love of all that is decent and meritocratic in the game, we need help from England, Europe or wherever to move out of Scottish football.

I am just about finished with the entire, corrupt, shambles that masquerades as a sport.

Issue six of CQN Magazine….. has sold out! None left, sorry.

I’ve written on here before that a bhoycott would be the only way to free celtic from the shackles of Scottish Football. Forcing the other clubs into part-time mediocrity via financial strangulation would then allow Celtic to exercise the same clause in UEFa ruling that allows Swansea and Cardff to play in the English leagues.

Previously, a sense of morality might have governed the call to put them all on starvation diets, but if they destroy the integrity of the Scottish game utterly by whitewashing the Hun crimes then to hell with them.

  7. Am I right in thinking that if a Rangers newco parachutes into the SPL debt free with little or no punishment and with new investors, it could potentially be in a better and stronger position than Celtic?

I am intrigued by your comments especially since less than 24 hours ago the group of 10 were, in your own words set to ‘deliver a hammer blow to Rangers’ – most odd.

And the meeting has not yet even taken place.

This was what I feared. We now have the possibility/probability of Celtic supporters confronting each ouside stadia the length and breadth of the country and all because of the fiscal negligence of a group of greedy, self serving cheats.

If this comes to pass it will be one of my saddest days as a Celtic supporter.

    Thomthetim,

“This is an action that must rest exclusively with the fans, as the club cannot be seen to be actively working against other clubs well being.”

so maybe you can explain what the other teams are doing to the Celtic then, if its not working against the well being of our club.

I was saying yesterday the board are doing a good job, keeping thir own coucil, I hpe they continue to do this until the other clubs make their move, as yet nothing has been done.

I can understand the board allowing their fears to be leaked, articles like this are designed to get a reaction and make the Celtic supports outrage known.

The last time we threatend bhoycott we forced changes in the sfa. The board spent a lot of time and resources killing off that threat, but learned how powerful it was.

They are now encouraging the use of the same threat before the decisions are made by the 10 as a show of strength, a bit of sabre rattling if you will.

The fact we were discouraged from actually bhoycotting then, is I think the reason the 10 have become brave enough to countenance such a course of action, of allowing a new unknown entity to circumvent the correct entry procedures to the spl.

  17. Leaders?

Doncaster, Reagan, Jabba and now a gang of up to 10 spineless cowards.

These are the people who hold the power in Scottish football, but they are not leaders. How these people got to where they are is a debate for another time. What is important now is that we recognise that the people who have somehow managed to manoeuvre themselves into these positions of authority are not leaders. They have created a moral vacuum and it is in this type of environment that volatility flourishes .

It’s time to accept one of three options.

    1.Accept what is being forced.

    2.Walk away disgusted.

    3.Fight.

A small percentage will take option one.

My biggest fear is the majority of people will take option 2.

Option 3 is very dangerous. Exactly how we stage a fight is crucial. The call for a boycott is the most obvious but whatever form the fight takes it will see you vilified and ridiculed in a way not seen since your forefathers stepped off the boats.

This is not a can of worms, this is Pandora’s box about to be opened.

Excellent rallying cry,but as I responded on Twitter unless it is a formal organised action incorporating the CSA and backed by the Club I fear we would not achieve the necessary numbers to make it stick.

As I said changing the habit of a lifetime would be tough but for the greater good would be worthwhile as it would let these other Clubs make up their minds if they are individual entities or pale imitations of RFC.

If possible if we could beam back games then we could achieve a healthy Celtic Park attendance each week to the detriment of the 10 sympathisers.

A bit off topic: I know about the 31 March deadline for clubs to submit audited accounts in order to support an application to play in Europe in the sesaon to come (a ‘European Licence’), but can you (or anyone else) inform/remind me if there is a deadline by which SPL clubs must submit accounts in order to be able to play in the coming season of the SPL?

(Also: what would pass as ‘accounts’ for such an application?)

    ———————————————

This should answer your question. Its an e mai to Alex Thomso9n ITN Ch4 who asked for fans input.

” As an example of how rules are being bent or ignored by authority and main stream media check the one below on SFA Club Licensing.

As things stand the SFA should refuse Rangers a licence at the end of this month and without it they cannot operate in any League under SFA jurisdiction..

This is where the game’s integrity is being totally undermined by avoiding or changing rules that do not serve commercial purpose. I e mailed earlier re UEFA’s 11 values at http://www.uefa.com/uefa/elevenvalues/index.html

and Platini’s Preservering Football Values statement

    http://www.uefa.com/uefa/aboutuefa/organisation/president/news/newsid=1737706.html

    which make UEFA’s position clear.

Saving The INTEGRITY of Scottish Footbal is the issue not saving Glasgow Rangers and UEFA will have to have a view.

Part 2 – National Club Licensing (SFA)

Section 8 – Legal, Admin and Finance Criteria

    8.1.1 Annual Financial Statements

Regardless of the club’s legal status, the club shall be required to provide a copy of its annual financial statements which have been approved by the club members at a General Meeting.

The statements shall refer to the year ended 2011 Clubs will provide this information as follows SPL clubs – by 31 March 2012 All other clubs – by 30 April 2012

    http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/resources/documents/ClubLicensing/PartTwo-NationalClubLicensing/8%20%20Legal%20Admin%20&%20Finance%20Criteria%20(2).pdf

See the problem here? NO approved accounts. And as regards a Newco they have no history to submit to the SFA to get through the licensing process which according to this Core Process takes 7 weeks.

    http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/resources/documents/ClubLicensing/PartTwo-NationalClubLicensing/4.%20Core%20Process%20(2)b.pdf

There is a story here. The SFA can make the SPL comply with integrity, kicking and screaming by not granting Rangers or Newco a licence to play in Scotland if accounts agreed by a Rangers AGM are not submitted by 31st March. (Note a license to play in Scotland not UEFA competition which is another set of rules).

Acceptable accounts ratified by an AGM are not going to be produced so Rangers should, under the rules be suspended.
