Breakdown on taxpayers £75m hit

835

I think some people have been reading too much into mentions of Rangers owing HMRC up to £75m.  For clarity, the big tax case, with penalties and interest, could reach approximately £50m, but that is not the end of the story.

There is the wee tax case, the potential VAT liability relating to the income from Ticketus and VAT due each quarter.  Then there is Pay As You Earn (PAYE) and National Insurance (NI).  With the lack of financial information from Rangers barring this “£75m” statement, it’s possible VAT, PAYE and NI are delinquent.

Add this lot up and you can easily see why the taxpayer could be looking at a £75m hit, Rangers did not link this figure with the big tax case alone.  I’ll leave it up to Craig Whyte’s next interviewers to ask how much of this figure has been incurred under his stewardship.

And remember, we’re only talking about HMRC debt here, don’t forget about the police, Glasgow City Council, utility suppliers and a multitude of small local businesses.

We don’t need no stinkin’ Rangers.

  1. ….and that’s a big ‘YES’ to wee Fergus unfurling that Flag…….

I’d walk from here tp Celtic Park to see that.

How that would stick in the throats of those who would have gladly consigned us to oblivion,

    ‘furra guid o’ scoddish fitba’.

    Aye!

Ah you may well be correct!

My apologies, I was brought up under the assumption that if you bought something you paid for it, silly me :-))

  3. So, how are the 140th birthday celebrations coming along then?

Unheard of on a Monday outside the festive season for me…

  5. During the night, while I was in dreamland, I thought I heard a little bell ringing. It was my phone announcing the arrival of a text message. I checked my watch. It was just approaching 2am. I turned over and went back to sleep. Just 20 minutes ago, at 8am, I awoke to a nice cup of tea in bed. She’s not a bad lass my missus.

I rubbed my eyes, put on my glasses and enjoyed a mouthful of tea before casually reaching for my phone as I remembered the early morning text. It was my mate Stephen from Glasgow. I uttered the words, “Ya dancer!” as I leapt to a sitting position and took in the contents of the message. The day had finally arrived. I made myself decent and rushed to the living room to switch on my laptop, and here I am.

There will be Celtic suporters in every corner of the world waking up to this momentous news.

    Happy days.

  6. My Grandfather will be lying easy in his grave tonight, he played only one game for the hoops against Falkirk in the league cup back in the 30′s, as reserve goalie he had no chance of breaking through with no subs, he moved to Ireland and played 2 years with Bray Wanderers making good money but got banned Sin Die by SFA for playing in Ireland, (anti irish/ anti cathoilc policy anyone?). I’m proud my grandfather played for such a great club that I support that have so much dignity and respect, unlike our friends down govan way.

the best bit is the old media are still giving them false hope as this item in the Herald shows. Ice cream and jelly for me.

Everyone knows what happened the last time their fans were asked to invest…oh that’s right nothing.

  9. 67Heaven ... I am Neil Lennon..!! Tick Tock !! on

Just finished work (very long ‘shift’) interrupted by at least 20 simultaneous ‘Instant Messages’ from some of my colleagues / friends in Celtic….will read back in a minute, and take it all in……BUT…….How do I feel.?

“GOD, HAVE I DIED AND GONE TO HEAVEN”

Took time out to listen to keevins’ comedy show tonight…….!!!!!!

    keevins,

Do you now understand why my Daddy is bigger than your Daddy…….you see, my Daddy plays by the law of the land / rules of our great sport, and the good ghuys always WIN in the end…..they have been caught cheating….they have been caught out by spending money they didn’t have……they are gubbed……!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…. you all thought you were protecting them with your silence/ lies, and all because you hate all things Celtic…..

You have no idea about anything ‘Celtic’……your conduct / manners on your pathetic little comedy show is evidence to that……enjoy the fruits of your reprehensible concealment of the facts…..they (and you / LL) reap what you sow….

Not that you will ‘listen’, but let me tell you something about Celtic..

    We are a true ‘family’…….!!!

We are proud to be of Irish roots, and we are proud to be Scottish…!!!

    We LOVE everything about Celtic…!!!!

Yes, a few fans stopped going to games….some because of the recession, and some because they gave up believing that a ‘level playing field’ would ever be possible….!!

Now that we can celebrate our roots without being ‘tarnished’ by bigots ….without being abused, threatened, assaulted, and even murdered….without having to ‘look over our shoulders (hopefully) when we walk down the street wearing a Celtic strip…….now that we can attend matches knowing that there is the possibility that we will receive a greater measure of FAIRNESS………..WE WILL FLOURISH, AND OUR FANS WILL BE ABLE TO ENJOY AN AFTERNOON /EVENING ‘AT THE GAME’……

I will now be going to away games…….I will now move away from RESISTENCE mode, and replace it with a SPORT ENJOYMENT mode……

Bye bye, keevins…there will be no place for your TYPE on the phone-ins now, since people (excuse the pun) will want to talk about football, which is way outside your area of expertise

I’m off now to read all the posts on this historic day for justice, and for Scottish Football, but before I go, I just want to make one more statement (as an unrepentant ‘HAPPY CLAPPER’)

Thank you, Celtic Board, and Peter Lawell, in particular…

Thank you for resisting the temptation to go down the EBT road, like many other honest teams in Scotland, and elsewhere…

Thank you very much for guiding our beloved Club through this recession….

Thank you for bringing NEIL back as manager……

Thank you for confirming that we are not interested in any other Club’s future…only Celtic

Thank you also Fergus, Brian, MON……you all played a part in the strategy which has taken us to a ‘position’ where we will be able to move forward and celebrate our heritage / team in the knowledge that EVERYONE at Celtic Park is working for CELTIC, unlike elsewhere….

Onwards and Upwards….Enjoy your football NOW, Folks

Craig Whyte hasn’t thought this through…

He may well sell Huns and fill his pockets but what use is money when you’re dead? Nothing surer than a maniac Hun fan doing him in…I suppose it takes the heat off Lenny..

Whatever – we should be erecting the Craig Whyte Statue at Parkhead soon?
