Brendan and Peter will tell the Dedryck and Jason story

289

Jason Denayer played his first senior football during his 2014-15 loan season at Celtic.  Before that season ended, he was a full Belgian international.  We tried to retain him, but parent club Manchester City wanted him to go elsewhere.

There followed a season at Galatasaray, then Sunderland (where he played central defence, full back and central mid), before going back to Galatasaray on loan last season.  His last appearance for Belgium was in the quarter finals of Euro 2016, a defeat to Wales.

While City would not loan Jason in 2015 they sold us Dedryck Boyata instead.  Dedryck made a 45-minute cameo appearance for Belgium as a teenager in 2010 but didn’t play for his country again until near the end of his first season at Celtic.  Belgium were preparing for Euro 2016 at the time but decided against his selection.

While Jason drifted out of the national team picture as he dodged around Europe on an enormous wage from Manchester City, Dedryck is in Russia.  He has earned less money than Jason since leaving Manchester City, but his achievements are far greater.

These things matter at this time of the year.  Brendan Rodgers and Peter Lawwell will speak to players and agents and will relay this narrative.  Come to Celtic, become a better player, win things, and gain international recognition.

Jason has two years left on his Manchester City contract, when he will be 24, but he needs to find another Celtic to put some wind beneath his wings, if he is to make it to the top.

Girvan lost 2-1 v Troon tonight 4-2 on aggregate , Troon’s ploy of bringing in 4 “TRIALISTS” ? paid off ! Girvan just don’t have the budget to compete in top league so will have to regroup and go again next season , hope Cumbernauld win on Friday HH !

    That’s a disappointing scoreline.

4 trialists in a play off? That’s playing with the rules.

On a positive, I will maybe see you next season then. :-)

    Cumbernauld play tomorrow.

Both clubs unhappy with venue and the short notice.

I think everyone thought it would be Saturday and Cumbernauld confirmed they were happy to play at Newlandsfield.

  6. Good evening CQN, on 24th May I shared with you news that Edouard had agreed a four year deal. Earlier today I shared news with you Edouard is our new No. 7, when will it be announced is the only question to be answered. When does preseason training start?

  7. Just logged on after a wee break. Spotted some WC betting forecasts. I must be the only person in the world who can join an online betting site and not get a free bet! Never mind, I have spread my net widely. Outsiders to make semi final Poland and Uraguay. Winners and top scorer double with Brazil and Jesus, also a sneaky quid on Germany and Werner. A fiver on France as outright winners and the last quid on The Saudi’s to win the battle of the despot states tomorrow night. What can go wrong?

  8. Another thing about the World Cup, I think the forwards, the class acts, will have a ball.

I am struggling to seeing really top quality defenders around nowadays and with the lates edict favouring forwards in tight offside calls, this could mean a few more goals.

The Lewandowski, Suarez, Jesus, Mbappe type of players should enjoy the moment

    Hey troops!!

Me and the gang are off to Germany again for the summer holidays. Was brilliant to see DD and a whole host of Tims in Munich last October, so looking forward to a wee pilgrimage back during July (we were already back over Easter too!).

Me and Wee BGFC may stay over in Koln for a night en-route (we are driving, the girls are flying) – if so, we’ll check out that bar.

Then it is onwards to Garmisch Partenkirtchen – heavenly part of the world, and really nice, normal people.

Interestingly the most outwardly Catholic place I’ve ever seen, which was a surprise when I first visited – Wee BGFC loves that.

DD – me and Wee BGFC send our love to you and yours (we do so every day – we just don’t always say it on here !!!).

Wee G is doing well – got through his Nat 5’s OK and looking forward to the second stage of Brendan’s revolution (and, just for a laugh, the demise of the Second Huns).

It’s a bit late in the evening, however, my shifts are not as easy or as sociable as they once were. I initially logged on last night and got the usual ‘are you a ….?

I’m not and I really can’t be bothered trying to justify myself to everyone who logs on and doesn’t recognise my username.

I do come from the ‘otherside’ as in being female. So maybe sometimes my opinions may seem a bit leftfield to the more ‘traditional’ support, I hope each and all will respect that. HH.
