BRENDAN RODGERS has defended Kristoffer Ajer over his lapse in allowing Hamilton Accies to equalise in Celtic’s eventual 2-1 win yesterday.
The 19-year-old Norwegian centre-half was caught square as Rakeesh Bingham punished a rare moment of slackness.
Rodgers, though, backed the international and said: “We have so many young players who are learning the game and Kris has been absolutely fantastic.
“He just switched off for that moment, squared himself up and a quick player will get in behind you. He’ll learn from that.”
Ajer came into the side following the 4-0 flop against Hearts at Tynecastle in December and has been an ever-present, playing in 20 consecutive games.
Rodgers added: “It’s been a real challenging season for us physically and the boys have been brilliant.”
