BRENDAN RODGERS has told Jozo Simunovic he must cut out the slackness in his game.
The Celtic boss dropped the centre-back following a poor display in the Hoops’ 4-0 flop against Hearts in December.
Simunovic was brought back due to injuries, but was at fault for Partick Thistle’s goals in last week’s 3-2 Scottish Cup win.
However, he was excellent in the 1-0 win over Zenit St Petersburg and Rodgers insisted the Bosnian international must maintain that form every week.
He said: “I’ve had a good chat with Jozo and reiterated to him that he will not achieve the levels I think he can get to if he’s not concentrated.
“It’s as simple as that. It doesn’t matter if it’s Partick Thistle, St Petersburg or St Johnstone – you have to be concentrated in your game.
“You saw him on Thursday night, he was brilliant. But that’s what you have to be here.
“He’s only 23 and Kris Ajer is just 19. We’ve got Kieran Tierney at 20, Eboue Kouassi is 20, with Olivier Ntcham and Moussa Dembele both 21.
“But their maturity they showed against Zenit was very pleasing.”
