Brendan Rodgers appointed Celtic manager

1136

Brendan Rodgers today became the 18th manager in Celtic’s history. Rodgers, 43, managed Liverpool for three years until October, after guiding Swansea to the English (and Welsh) Premier League in 2011. He previously managed Reading and Watford.

His appointment is unquestionably the most popular since the arrival of fellow Irishman, Martin O’Neill, 16 years ago. Known for his belief in playing attacking, possession-based football, he will bring a force of personality to the club and to Scottish football.

Rodgers occupied the top position on Celtic’s wanted list at the start of the month, but the desire to sign him up was tempered by the belief that attracting a manager of such a profile to Scotland would be difficult. My understanding is that as soon as talks got underway in earnest, it was clear neither party would let the opportunity slip away.

I’m delighted at the appointment. The club already feels reinvigorated.

Welcome to Celtic, Brendan. Let’s get on with the job.

Anyone think that the LL will treat every utterance from Brendan Rodgers , a top level manager as gospel and without question as they have a recent championship manager .

    No me neither

Now, I criticise the Celtic board for many things but I do believe that I’m balanced and fair enough to highlight the good that they do.

This is a major coup and a fantastic achievement.

  14. I watched a RODGERS Swansea team giving Arsenal a lesson in passing, and then give Liverpool a Lesson in football in the one season. This is a true European football man. He was unlucky with injuries at that Liverpool club. When the likes of Louis Suarez gives him resounding praise, you know you’ve got a good one. Yes, that Suarez who’s just won La Liga for Barcelona.

No wonder BFDJ and the rest are shitting themselves.

Our foes were united, and we. were divided,

We met and they scattered us all to the wind.

    But once more returning,

    Within our veins burning

Through the red gap of glory they marched to the grave.

I never advocated someone still employed in the media ,overseeing Celtics pr dept .

I mentioned trying to lure BERNARD PONSONBY AWAY FROM MEDIA ,and head up Celtics media outlets . Cast your mind back to the NEW BALANCE Unveiling , remember how the good news day for celtic was hijacked . The stories and quotes from players being turned around and used against our bhoys . The list is endless . I mentioned BP as he is a big celtic bhoy . And more importantly SHARP AS A PIN , and more than able to handle traynor and his puppets even on a bad day . Man Utd have a person who interrupts and tell the rat pack the question is off track , or tells the interviewee (sp) don’t answer . But it’s up to you both how you view it , those thoughts are only my own .

Read it again pal. The appointment does satisfy me. Enormously. But we shouldn’t be humbly thankful to Brendan or Dermot or anyone else – they need us as much as we need them. It is a great appointment as I said earlier.
