Brendan Rodgers appointed Celtic manager

1136

Brendan Rodgers today became the 18th manager in Celtic’s history. Rodgers, 43, managed Liverpool for three years until October, after guiding Swansea to the English (and Welsh) Premier League in 2011. He previously managed Reading and Watford.

His appointment is unquestionably the most popular since the arrival of fellow Irishman, Martin O’Neill, 16 years ago. Known for his belief in playing attacking, possession-based football, he will bring a force of personality to the club and to Scottish football.

Rodgers occupied the top position on Celtic’s wanted list at the start of the month, but the desire to sign him up was tempered by the belief that attracting a manager of such a profile to Scotland would be difficult. My understanding is that as soon as talks got underway in earnest, it was clear neither party would let the opportunity slip away.

I’m delighted at the appointment. The club already feels reinvigorated.

Welcome to Celtic, Brendan. Let’s get on with the job.

Absolutely delighted with the signing of Brendan Rodgers, as a truly professional, and driven manager its fantastic to get him in this time slot and with a view to reviewing the set up before the serious business starts after the holiday break.

That’s roughly 7hrs since our new manager has been announced and not even had a single Celtic fan doubt this appointment……….. (Sky are known to exaggerate the truth)

I was dreading this weekend as I have always loved the Scottish Cup final, always gutted when we are not there, but funnily enough I am not in the slightest bit interested……for the first time in a good while the CL qualifiers are much awaited, no way our new boss will take these lightly

    Happy days

Macjay, at the game on sunday I thought Rogic was lucky and the ball bounced off multiple legs and landed lucky.

What a bit of footwork, a bit like me on the dance floor.

Delaney, just catching up with chat earlier today with yourself and a few others talking about the Uni and Lions buses.

Most enjoyable days ,not as much as today with the news of Brendan’s appointment , but a time when going to see our team , irrespective of our results, helped forge feelings for Celtic.

Gerry W’s dad and one of Gerry’s nephews sit behind me at Celtic Park.

I used to drink in Heraghty’s and the late Jeff Harris used to drink in there occasionally. He looked in a bad way, healthwise , when I saw him.

It still brings a smile to my coupon of Jeff going to our games in season 82/82 in the full strip plus having the big Spanish style rosary beads on .

Delighted with today’s news about Brendan. Hopefully he is as succesful as our last two manager’s from Ulster. Talking of Ulster, will JimMcGuiness still have a place in the backroom team.
