Chris Sutton was a deadly serious football player but he never takes himself too seriously as a punter. This is easy for you and I to understand, when we hear him throw a controversial view around, but if you are Brendan Rodgers and you hear a former fans favourite suggest he was “going through the motions” as Celtic manager, it’s going to sting.
The manager looks to have used this as fuel as he told the assembled media, “From a personal perspective, I am surprised in a way where I heard somebody saying ‘Brendan Rodgers was going through the motions’ earlier in the season.” Adding, he “had been treated like a novice” since arriving back at Celtic last summer.
You need your manager to keep his emotions under wraps while there is still a job to be done, but I am pleased to see Brendan show some emotion on this subject. I have never liked the badge kisser, they are all here for professional reasons and Brendan is no different.
He has proven a point in recent week and can do so again on 25 May. Beating regular losers is only part of the story, though. If he really wants to teach his critics a lesson, the opportunity will arrive in the third week of September.

Agree with all who say Bobby Murdoch was one of our greatest ever players along with wee Jimmy. That shot towards the goal in Lisbon was a great effort. The next morning after the game in the team hotel in Estoril, I congratulated him on scoring the second goal. From where I was sitting it looked like he had scored. Bobby quickly put me right about the scorer. Still his shot at goal made it easy for Chalmers to hit the back of the net.
Like others on here I was lucky to have lived through the Stein era and have the pleasure of watching Bobby and so many other great footballers,
Bobby Murdoch and Tommy Burns.
Bobby was my favourite Celtic player as I grew up watching him and the Lisbon Lions and beyond.
I had the Privilege of meeting Bobby on a few occasions, but my first meeting with him was a wee ” LOCK IN” in a Club in Yoker.
The man was a sheer joy to watch playing Fitba….and equally i had more joy when we had a few drinks together.
Taken far too early… thats for sure.
R.I.P. Bobby.

Tommy Burns R.I.P.
I only met Tommy once when he was Manager of Celtic.
We had a brief chat about one or two characters from The Calton that we both knew.
A true Celtic Great……and a truly gifted Bhoy who KNEW how to play Fitba the Celtic way.
Also taken far too early.
Tommy and Bobby in the same Heaven Celtic Eleven….I would pay in TEN TIMES over to watch those Bhoys again.
