Brendan Rodgers was correct in his post-match comments about supporting the players when they circulate the ball back, instead of always making a forward pass. For much of the first half, we struggled to complete passes, which made it difficult to penetrate St Mirren’s organised block. It was all too impatient. This changed when we started to hold onto the ball by making easier passes, which inevitably meant going back on occasion.
The players needed to move their opponents around in order to open up spaces. This often means circulating the ball back to the keeper, if necessary. Football is all about creating angles to move the ball forward. When everyone is marked, safe angles might not be available, but a move back changes everyone’s available angle.
Think back to all those intercepted passes on Thursday. The angles were wrong, we needed to go back instead of forward. This was screamingly obvious on Thursday and, hearing Brendan’s post-match comments yesterday, I suspect it was a feature of the Ibrox post-mortem.
This has been a bugbear of mine since the groans Neil Lennon heard against Boavista that April evening. There is a limit to the innate talent Celtic can afford to buy, but we can support and encourage good decision making in that instant when you receive the ball with 60,000 people watching, and two opponents running towards you.
We scored two goals yesterday (the first and third) by moving the ball forward quickly on a counter-attack. We can go a long time without seeing teams like St Mirren move forward at Celtic Park. When they do, the turnover becomes crucial and we have the speed to exploit whatever space is available. This is a completely different scenario to opening up a packed defence.
While we are on the subject of playing teams like St Mirren. Always when the scores are level and often when Celtic have the lead, opposing goalkeepers use up between 25 and 30 seconds to take a goal kick, and usually take around 20 seconds to release the ball from their hands. Free kicks in the middle of the park consume 30 seconds and attacking free kicks take longer still.
There is a charade at goal kicks. The ballboy rolls a ball into the six yard box. The visiting keeper pretends he is unaware of the multi-ball system and ambles after the ball that was knocked out of play. He then makes his way back onto the field and considers whether to pass to his central defenders, before ushering them up-field. Always.
Referees cannot deny keepers a moment of indecision before kicking up-field, but their inaction over timewasting is contrary to the rules as well as the interests of the paying spectator. An early booking for timewasting would discourage subsequent offences and make for a better event.

On the Bent Martin one, I think he presented the Celtic keeper with the lucky horse shoe from his wedding when he played at Celtic Park.

……..
Don’t need to be tough to be honest. If you are threatened by honesty or a mirror being held up to your posts aimed at me then that is your look out.
Honesty, that’s the funniest one yet 🤣.
For a wee weirdo you’re very entertaining.

Honesty is something that you struggle with that is why you respond so childishly.
Irony. 🤪
I’m in agrement with those comments regarding Greg Taylor’s fine contribution to the club’s trophy winning seasons and don’t have a problem whatever his decision for his future.
Interesting editorial regarding Brendan’s tactics to beat the high block defence with slow passing buildup wiith ‘keeper involvment. Newco generally play an attacking game but in the recent derby Celltic on this occasion could not find any breakthrough, this was a once off admittedly. We were like rabbits in headlights or mass squad viral infection.
Like GT Liam Scales took a lot of criticsm for a misplaced pass that in part led to Newco’s goal but up to that our defence had been excellent and in the grand scheme of things didn’t really matter we are still thirteen points ahead in the title race.
Our golden boy CCV has also a few dents in his halo particularly the howler when passing into his own net under no pressure whatsoever in the Champions league which probably coost us the three points against Brugge,

Huns are slaughtering all of their £40m 🙄 players today. Even cerny getting it.
Apparently Raskin, Diomande and Hagi were particularly shite.
It’s very frustrating that we let them dominate us last week.

Just remember, this is the style of play that has given us 55 goals for in 20 games with only 7 conceded. ”
That, IMO, certainly IS something to be remembered by those who frequently complain.

I think you are prfectly correct. The overall feeling coming from all I have spoken with is a deep frustration that we allowed them so much rope in the game. It far outweighs the disappointment that, given our position on and off the field, is easily swallowed… and was washed-down by the Easter Road result. HH

There are ST holders, especially in Ireland, who cannot be expected to attend every match- the cost is prohibitive.
However many have STs because not only does it allow for attendance at any SPL game, it is the only guaranteed way to secure a ticket for other matches including CL.
However I think if there was a resale scheme then some who previously were ST holders and not attending matches would use that scheme instead.
========================
A few wee things Dexter
Irish supporters clubs should work with Scottish supporters clubs to ensure the season ticket seat is used.
I do this with 2 irish tickets, one goes to CL games the other league&cup games,so helping part fund the 3 of us are content.the seats are always used
You bet your bottom dollar if we were playing huns every week they would be here,(thats aimed at irish who are only interested in them)
It does cost a few quid to travel,i done it myself coming up to watch a poor Celtic in the 90s,flights up and down from london but
All in all i agree Celtic have to oversee an exchange Scheme so that the gaps like there will be on wed night dont happen. To much emphasis at moment is on seat ownership not use,i dunno but if T&C could be altered to give weight to this and could generate more income for the club.

Around 15,000 empty seats for the last 3 home games, and most likely the same on Wednesday night for the Dundee Utd game.
Faithful Through and Through ?
Too many glory hunters now in our support, supporters who are spoiled by success and now can be bothered to go to the games.

A generation growing up on the success in the new century, they do not take defeat lightly as was seen since last thursday.
A certain entitlement and hubris, a complete reflection of the hun mentality, but wearing hoops and singing of a Celtic and times they know fookall about or have experience of
‘They are there,always there’ TB
I wonder if they would have stuck out the 90s,or some of the titles lost with big christmas leads in 80s?
Customers unhappy at the product they see whereas fans can be positive in criticism and are always there

Ps you still got your goals compilation video ?
the most self entitled caller to clyde now saying brendan is ostacizing the fans,
and eventually admits his mood at the game was dictated by losing to the rangers.
dearie me.
EK Bhoy,
Oh,I see.So how did that work when Hibs could have scored 3 in the 1st 10 mins,Huns, could have really given us a drubbing last week.I am astonished by the amount of goals lost every week,by “Recycling” We have lost a few ourselves.
I have nothing against this form of play, but for Gods sake, speed it up a bit.We regularly see double figures in passes, all in our own half.
If we had been playing Sevco yesterday, would all the usual excuses for not attending the game still be adhered to ………
Family commitments
Work commitments
Weather
KO time
Finance issues
Would the stadium have been missing 15,000 supporters if we were playing Sevco yesterday ?

….
We’ve lost hardly any goals this year , against Hibs ,Liam and Austin both got drawn to the ball and we’re too far apart and we’re susceptible to a simple through ball , from my perch didn’t seem to have anything to do playing the ball about unnecessarily.
The ideal is that the ball is moved quickly ie each player takes the fewest number of touches practical , say 2 and 1/2 touches each which means the team need to be well drilled and be on the move.
The results justify the tactics in my book.
There are occasions when we take too many touches from the back giving opponents time to man mark which results in the ball being recycled, the answer is not to try 50/50 ball resulting in a bagatelle game , better control fewer touches and keep the ball on the move quickly
Simplescfc
Get real on GT. We are a club intent on improving our European reputation. GT gets torn to shreds when up against faster and more physical opposition. He struggles to stop crosses into the box , therefore BR asks Maeda to track back and cover his frailties. This in turn attracts opposing full backs up the pitch while Maeda is occupied.
Valle stats are better and KT takes it up a few notches if he remains fit.
GT has brought professional qualities to the team and led by example in terms of effort, movement forward and goal/assist contribution. Defensively though we need to be better.
He’s a culprit as well as midfield over passing and our lack of ability to pass between the lines or a player turning them over. (Rogic did it , Hatate can but doesn’t )
I wonder if Rodgers is frustrated we won’t get KT. Seriously, if he wanted GT the way he describes , then GT would have a deal worth signing. Simple!
Or would the usual excuses be ignored and we would have had a full stadium ?
Losing to the hun is sore. These things happen in life. We shall thrash them at least twice before season end.

Ah,the good old SFA.Doing their best for Scottish football.
Why did Rodgers have a cadre of mainstream
Media folks over last season to view a video compilation he commissioned of his team playing like Anges?
Rodgers doesn’t like criticism of his playing style. He can cope with bad results better than criticism of his playing style. It’s his kryptonite.
Who earns more? Greg Taylor or Luis Palma?
Taylor wants to stay. Rodgers says he wants him to stay. Rodgers also wants Tierney but then he also wanted McGinn and was partly to blame for him not signing as he told him he might not play every week.
Zagreb would not make Taylor an offer they could afford. Their wage structure doesn’t even include for paying the same as e.g. Cardiff or Leeds…
Why did the Zagreb story appear? Who planted it
there is a very funny thread on thier blog about a fans survey regarding match day experince in the copland road new seats.
in an old joke repurposed …… one of them says
the seats are facing the pitch, but you cant see all the pitch if you sit down.
Anybody been to St Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art? is it worth a visit.

It’s not only at Celtic and not only Brendan that gets irate with an unreasonable section of the support having a go at a full-back – this from BBCSport on the goings on at the home game with Man Utd.
“At one point in the second half, head coach Arne Slot remonstrated with the crowd over their treatment of the right-back.
Gareth Roberts, host of the Liverpool fan podcast Late Challenge and a Kop season-ticket holder, told the BBC: “Everything about it was weird. There were a few boos around me. It goes against being a supporter doesn’t it? It’s gone toxic from a proportion of the fanbase.”
How has it ended up this way?”
