BRENDAN’S QUICK TURNAROUND

THERE is no respite for Brendan Rodgers and his players with Celtic taking on AFC Champions League winners Al-Ahli in Como tomorrow evening.

Following last night’s 5-1 thumping from Ajax, the Hoops will now take on the Saudis with a 7.30pm kick-off in the third place play-off encounter.

The Amsterdam club will meet the hosts, with ex-Celt Nicolas Kuhn in the line-up, in Sunday’s Como Cip showpiece finale.

However, there is no break for the Parkhead men as they play Al-Ahli before the Premiership kicks off the following weekend with St Mirren the visitors to the east end of Glasgow on Flag Day as the champions start the bid for their fourteenth title in 15 years.

One of Rodgers’ new recruits, Shin Yamada, will be hoping to make his debut after red tape prevented his first appearance against Ajax, as CQN reported earlier today.

The Japanese international striker, who sealed his £1.3million switch from Kawasaki Frontale on Saturday, faced the Saudis recently when the J-League side lost 2-0.
