BRING IT ON: IDAH ‘LOOKING FORWARD’ TO TESTING TREBLE RUN-IN

ADAM IDAH drilled in his 18th goal of the season in Celtic’s 1-1 deadlock at Ibrox yesterday.

The Republic of Ireland international frontman is now looking forward to the champions’ three league tests before he may be given the chance to stage an action replay of his matchwinning feat in last season’s Scottish Cup Final.

Back on the iconic date of May 25 at Hampden last year, Idah emerged with the silverware-clinching strike in the fading moments against Ibrox opposition, then managed by Philippe Clement.

The goal completed the league and Cup double in Brendan Rodgers’ comeback campaign – and went a long way to earning the powerhouse striker a £9.5million permanent move to Glasgow after his short-term loan from Norwich City.

OOPS…Adam Idah thumps a shot against keeper Liam Kelly with John Souttar looking on – just seconds before the Ibrox club took the lead.

Celtic now face three Premiership encounters against Hibs at Parkhead and Aberdeen at Pittodrie before yet another Flag Day in Paradise when St Mirren provide the opposition a week on Saturday.

And then the focus will turn to the Scottish Cup showpiece extravaganza against the Dons at the national stadium a week later where the Hoops have the opportunity to bring down the curtain with their sixth treble in nine years.

Reflecting on the stalemate at Ibrox, Idah said: “I thought we deserved to win and we had quite a few chances that we probably should have put to bed.

“At the end of the day, though, it’s a tough game coming here so we take the point.

“I watched my goal back and, to be fair, I thought it was a really good finish. My first touch set me up nicely to put the ball in the back of the net. And Daizen did a great job getting down the wing.

“It was a strange one celebrating and then seeing the flag go up, but then to go and celebrate with the fans was amazing, so I’m happy overall.”

Looking ahead to the upcoming Premiership schedule, Idah, speaking to Celtic TV, added: “We want the momentum going into the Cup Final.

“We’ve got three games coming up now and it’ll be an excellent test for us.

“They’re all going to be tough games. We’ve won the league, but we want to do the best we can and get as many points before we go into the Cup Final.

“We’re looking forward to it.”
