‘BRING IT ON!’ ROARS LUSTIG

CELTIC defender Mikael Lustig is relishing the prospect of a hectic run-in to the turn of the year and will play for Sweden in their World Cup play-off games against Italy.

The right-back will line up against the Italians in their home clash on Friday night before travelling for the second leg three days later.

However, Lustig admitted he is looking forward to the challenges that are being presented at club and country level.

He said: “You don’t feel it when you are winning.

“It is an exciting time and with the games coming thick and fast it means you are really just ticking over and looking to the next game all the time.

“We have tried for a long time to never look much further than the next one. It seems to be working!

“Obviously, we know there are a load of games coming up, but as a player you always want to be out there playing and being in as many competitions as you can.”

The defence of the League Cup against Motherwell on Sunday November 26 offers the first opportunity for silverware this season.

It was the first trophy claimed under Brendan Rodgers last year as well as the 100th in the club’s history.

Lustig added: “We know that they will make a game out of it, but, to be honest, we don’t want to think about it just yet.

“When we come back from the break we have Ross County, a game that was hard for us last year, so it is just about making sure that we are focused on our next challenge all the time.”
