BROONY: RODGERS WON’T TAKE RISKS

INSPIRATIONAL skipper Scott Brown is a massive doubt for tonight’s Europa League Group B game against RB Salzburg in Austria.

And manager Brendan Rodgers insists he will NOT take risks with the 33-year-old midfielder’s long-term health.

Tom Rogic, Kristoffer Ajer and Filip Benkovic have already been ruled out through injury and Brown sat out training yesterday morning with a hamstring problem.

Rodgers said: “We’ll need to have a look at Browny, he could be struggling. It’s just weighing up the risk of the longer term scenario. I would never take a risk on any player if it meant he could be out longer term.

“He’s brilliant for me. You know if he can’t play, then he genuinely can’t play and the risk is too great.

“If he’s not available, then it will be someone else who comes in to do a job.

“It’s a tightness in his hamstring. He’s had issues with it before over a number of years. If we can recover him for the weekend, then fine.

“If he’s no good for the weekend then he’ll definitely be back after the international break.”

The Hoops had better news on striker Odsonne Edouard who limped off before half-time in the 1-0 win over Aberdeen on Saturday following a wild and brutal high challenge from defender Scott McKenna.

But Rodgers said: “I’d expected him to be back. It was only a dead leg. He’s moving on in training, so that’s been good.”
