With a UK work permit attained and (I presume) Uefa coaching badges secured, Wilfried Nancy yesterday became the 20th permanent manager in Celtic’s history. The 48-year-old has four years managerial experience in Major League Soccer with CF Montreal and Columbus Crew.
In his first season, he won the Canadian Championship. The following year, he took Montreal to the CONCACAF Champions League quarter final, where they lost to Mexican side Cruz Azul. An interesting insight into his character revealed that year, when Wilfried got into a spat with the owner of Montreal after a bad defeat. Nancy asked to be relieved from his contract with immediate effect, but was talked into staying until the end of the season.
Three years ago this Friday Columbus Crew bought out his Montreal contract and brought Wilfried to Ohio as their new head coach. In his first season at Columbus he won the MLS Cup and in 2024 he won the Leagues Cup. He also got to the Champions League Final that term and won the MLS Coach of the Year award. The season which ended last month was less successful, with Columbus finishing the MLS in 7th place.
The strength of character he so publicly displayed at Montreal will be an asset in Glasgow; this is not a city which rewards meekness in its football employees. His core talent is that of a tactician, with his favoured style regarded as attacking (which also known as risky).
I watched last night’s performance through the prism of what the new manager would make of his players. Auston Trusty broke through the lines and was regularly found on the wings in an attacking position; consistent with how Nancy setup at Columbus.
That aside, watching last night’s performance, Wilfried will have a good idea why the job became available. Celtic moved to joint top of the table last night, rescued from aimlessness by an heroic effort from Martin O’Neill, but I am sure the message was made clear to him at interview, this is Celtic at the bottom of the curve. The team needs to be rebuilt in 2026.
The immediate task is to deal with Hearts on Sunday. Hearts maybe in a rut, but they are better than Dundee, Sunday will be a challenge. To those who would prefer Wilfried’s competitive introduction was against lesser opponents, need I remind you of Lincoln Red Imps, or Artmedia Bratislava?
My finger in the air reading of the reaction to the appointment is that some people have learned from their deranged response to the appointment of Ange Postecoglou in 2021. That day’s comments on CQN are worth a revisit. Wilfried is an unknown quantity in European football, his merits were earned in an environment often overlooked. At 48, he is seven years younger than Ange when he arrived from Japan and transformed the club. The parallels are not perfect, but they are bound to have given Celtic some comfort that appointing a middle aged coach who is not on the UK/European circuit can offer a greater return.
Brother Walfried takes over from the Blessed Martin. Martin O’Neill answered the call with Celtic in a tailspin having lost their previous two Premiership games. In his short time, he collected 15 points from five league games, won a League Cup semifinal and beat Feyenoord at De Kuip, the only reversal at Midtjylland.
That is a remarkable return for a remarkable football manager and man. His charm has been inspiring and his considerable legacy enhanced. Who thought that possible?

i seen one view of the Daizen assault and it clearly showed the Dundee player not even looking at the ball…
His head was turned away from the impact completely.

PS: As for songs, it’s a no-brainer for the clouds to welcome Wilf’s assistant Kwame with a stirring rendition of Black Lace’s famous ditty:
“Am-pa do do- do”
For Wilf, The Rolling Stones ‘Angie’ might inspire us with:
Nancy, Nancy
When will those clouds all disappear?

Where will you lead us from here?

That’s the way in Paradise…

Like during the 2012 Ibrox EBT/HMRC/STOLEN/TROPHIES carry on.
Our leaders hid under the bed saying it was none of our business.
Yet it was our supporters/players/managers who were cheated out of 20+ trophies, THAT, makes it ENTIRELY our business.
We wouldn’t have needed Res12/5WA/etc if our board was doing its job.
========================
The letter from Peter Lawwell in May 2012 about Rangers use of EBTS.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1C8BvxddEbtQKL-rAa1yWZ6X5SOSNcdUk/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=107947982974245186134&rtpof=true&sd=true
Challenges that view that our leaders hid under the bed more that UEFA put them there.
I mean the May 2012 letter was addressed to Infantino the architect to FFP now cosying up to Trump.
What is interesting is what did UEFA do, what was the response?
The reply might indicate why UEFA were not interested in 2011 UEFA Licence granted by SFA to Rangers when HMRC owed £2.8M not paid by 31/03/2011.
The thing is the Res12 guys were not made aware of the existence of the May 2012 letter as the 2011 UEFA licence matter was pursued from 2013 to 2017 .
In fact the letter is part of correspondence released by joint agreement between the SFA and Celtic after the Supreme Court ruling in 2017.
The relevance to Res12 is that had the reply from UEFA to May 2012 letter ever been provided there would have been no point asking UEFA to investigate Res12.
The relevance to the 5WA is that had UEFA responded positively to PL’s letter and looked into Rangers use of EBTs they would have found grounds to question UEFA licenses granted by SFA from 2009 to 2011 because the accounts Rangers submitted were not a fair representation of Rangers business and the 2011 Licence in respect of an overdue payable was granted through false pretence aka fraud.
Had this been known in 2012 in public the 5WA would have been impossible to justify or demanded trophies be withheld as a condition.
If you or anyone wants to read a very long, detailed forensic narrative that supports the above it has been produced with help of AI at
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1SK_0_V7TDh8LXjEksABi5yUgRviDVneF/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=107947982974245186134&rtpof=true&sd=true
it is restricted but I can be contacted to provide access.
In an earlier reply to MOM I said he was on right track but it went higher and wider than Celtic who did not have UEFA support to investigate but had what did take place been known in 2012, retaining titles etc could not have been justified and Charles Green should have been told to sling his hook.
The risk was that as the only bidder he might have walked away so SFA/and SPL clubs, not just Celtic ,caved in.
lets all do the huddle

From jobo
*SENTINEL CELTS PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2025-26*
*RESULTS FROM GAME #24 CELTIC 1 DUNDEE 0 (MAEDA)*
Good evening, friends.
And so finally, finally, we got to witness our interim management team’s last game in charge. And whilst arguably it may well have been the least enjoyable of the 6 league games played under their leadership, ultimately it was another 3 points won, maintaining the 100% win record since the departure of Brendan.
The last 2 rounds of fixtures saw Celtic secure 6 points. Not one of the other 5 ‘top 6’ teams secured any more than 2 and perhaps that is what still sets us apart from the rest – the relentless pursuit of domestic success even when the odds aren’t as favourable as we would hope.
There was, unfortunately, very little of note to include in this particular match report. However, every one of our good moments seemed to involve Reo Hatate in some capacity or other. And perhaps the lasting take away from the last 6 weeks has been our Japanese midfielder getting back to the player that we know he can be.
And so, to those brief moments of excitement. Our opener came after 11 minutes. Yang had the ball out left and passed square to McGregor who did the same to Hatate. Reo had noticed that Yang had done the old ‘pass and move’ into the box and found him with a first time clipped pass. The keeper could only parry Yang’s effort into the night sky and when it descended Maeda was first to get his head onto it to knock it into the net. But just like Engels last weekend, our goalscorer took a really bad knock to his face and was subsequently off the park for almost 10 minutes before re-appearing, head stitched up, to rapturous applause.
A short time later with the ball bobbing around about 40 yards from goal, Hatate picked out Saracchi in space on the left and despite a poor first touch our Uriguayan left back got a decent shot away, again parried by the keeper’s legs.
We had a scare just before half time when Scales’ attempt at a header back to Schmeichel was woefully short but fortunately the Dundee’s striker only hit the crossbar.
Early in the second half we had another 2 efforts on goal. The first one saw some good combinations involving McCowan, Engels, Hatate and back to McCowan. Again, the keeper could only parry the effort and Maeda, under severe pressure from the Dundee defender, saw his rebound effort slip narrowly past.
Next up saw the ball shifted across our midfield to Reo Hatate on the edge of the D. Reo shifted his feet from right to left but will have been disappointed with his tame effort which the keeper easily saved.
Deep into stoppage time and having been under a wee bit of uncomfortable pressure from a Dundee side looking for an equaliser, we managed to set Daizen free and bearing down on goal. A good firm strike but unfortunately it smashed off the post and away to safety.
And so the final credits rolled to a ‘That’s All Folks’ wave from Martin, Shaun and the crew who took their deserved applause from those left in a cold stadium.
Oh, and finally, for anyone reading this who is wondering why I never mentioned the officiating, well, words completely fail me!!!
We have now played 24 games, and have won 14, drawn 6 and lost 4. We have scored 42 goals and conceded 19.
As for the voting numbers, it’s a bit of a dip from recent games with no resultant charity donation being generated. But, as always, I am very grateful to the 85 folk who did vote this time around. Hopefully numbers pick up again for most, if not all of December’s remaining 7 fixtures.
The total votes cast for each player are as follows, with my own nominations asterisked.
Schmeichel: 9
Donovan*: 12
Trusty*: 26
Scales: 3
Saracchi: 11
McGregor: 23

Maeda: 68
Yang: 18
Tierney: 0
Tounekti: 0
Bernardo: 0
Nygren: 0

And so, the POINTS earned by each player for the Dundee game are as follows –

9 points: Schmeichel
8 points: Scales
7 points: McCowan

22: Inamura
19: Idah
10: Simpson-Pusey
4: Doohan

We now have a top of the table home league game this Sunday against Hearts, kick off is at 3.00pm. This is, of course, our first game under new manager Wilfried Nancy and let’s hope that the new chapter gets off to a winning start.
Hail Hail!

“Would you believe it? The Palestinian flag flying on Belfast City Hall. Congratulations and solidarity to all those SDLP, Green and Sinn Féin councillors who voted for the Sinn Féin motion to fly the flag on the International Day of Solidarity with the People of Palestine. Protestant supremacists naturally objected and went to court to have the flag removed. They failed. You can see these delightful creatures with their Loyalist and Zionist flags (and the witty slogan on the hoody to the left) outside Belfast High Court below. A spokesman for the County Grand Orange Lodge of Belfast said the group were “utterly dismayed” by the decision to raise the flag. Good. Obviously, there is a very strong identification between the Protestant supremacist adherents of the racist ideology of Orangeism and the Jewish supremacist adherents of the racist ideology of Zionism. It is neither anti-Protestant nor anti-Jewish to point this out.”

People seldom verify information that aligns with their existing beliefs.
This behavior falls under several psychological concepts: confirmation bias, motivated reasoning, willful ignorance, and cognitive dissonance avoidance.
Of these, willful ignorance is likely the most precise term, as it captures the deliberate choice to avoid scrutiny when the truth is inconvenient.
Only thing is, Sinn Fein, SDLP, Greens, are virtue signalling again.
WHY?
Because they need all of these new people to vote for them as Irish Republicans have washed their hands of virtue signalers
Irish sellouts are being exposed by citizen jounalists because the media is anti the Irish people.

So instead of making an effort to establish if what you think to be true actually is, you fall back on your £49 a ticket issue to justify not looking at something that might cause you to change your mind.
You have not changed one bit since the event at KOSC meeting in Blantyre, must be over 10 years ago, when I approached you and suggested a meeting might help your uninformed understanding of Res12. You refused.
Others who are interested in events around 2012 might want to make the effort you won’t.
What exactly do you want me to say about the £49 ticket because I am fecked if I know.

If you were to look at the information provided you would better understand why the PLC acted as they did.
As I recall at the time you commented on CQN those you championed like the CST, turned out to have misrepresented what RES12 was about, which paved the way for Celtic to sell the £49 tickets to the supporters that the CST with JF and DL in place , the GB and CSA represented.
The very ones who ignored more than enough evidence to bring the Board to account but are now seeking to do so by means that are unlikely to work.
You have no idea,
The above was not immediately obvious in the beginning but attempts to get the CST, the GB behind Res12 were misrepresented or rejected and are a big reason that Res12 and its implications never got enough attention from supporters at large to get the traction needed to achieve accountability.
Don’t blame me for their duplicity, blame them .
Your narrative simply lacks enough information to be true. That is not a judgement, you could not possibly know, you were never in the room.
A more accurate narrative about duplicity than yours can be read at

You can put as much spin and gobbledygook as you want on Original Rangers cheating as you want…but…the facts of the matter are….Original Rangers abused the tax system to gain an unfair advantage over every team in Scotland for over a decade….every trophy and game won by them in that period should be replaced by a 0-3 defeat…trophy’s removed..and an avenue opened to ANY European team who lost money to sue the people/organisations who allowed it/ turned a blind eye to it….thats the ONLY justice….
Furthermore…the fact their allowed to continue as Rangers…AND make claim to historic victories and trophies is an absolute DISGRACE….shame on all of them and those who are party to it….
Scottish “professional “ football is simply a cartoon/caricature version of the real thing….
just ask them if they can go sit on granda billy,s debenture seat.
I often wondered why we got so many bad refereeing decisions against us when playing in European competitions…then it dawned on me that even corrupt organisations like UEFA don’t want teams from a corrupt league getting anywhere near a European trophy….I mean…why if a team from another country were to put in a protest?….
The ONLY solution for us to improve is to apply to another league…even if it means starting in the bottom rung……ANYTHING would be better than the SPFL….
Amateurish doesn’t even describe it…
Well, that was a read back.A lunatic taking up 2 pages, and worse, supposedly sensible people conversing with him.
😣😣😣
My youngest son is Celtic daft….he has lots of cousins….5 are football fans….3 boys and 2 girls…they ALL support English teams….all from Celtic supporting families…all think Scottish football is a joke….ive no doubt many younger SCOTTISH people are more interested in the EPL than our leagues…
…in essence…..Celtic and Scottish football are losing the next generations….some of it due to EPL televised saturation….but most of it down to our tin pot league run by tin pot “politburo” style organisations….
Forgive my rant….but in the ‘60s (1967 two teams from Glasgow in the two major European finals) and ‘70s…Scottish teams and the league were a force….
I hate to say it but I understand DDs and the board’s reasons for downsizing…if we win the next 10 leagues in a row then Scottish football is over…what tv company will ever pay to televise that?…..

No disrespect, But PhilMac is a shill who has said the same as you about £49 in NINE YEARS.
He has said NOTHING!
Did Phil warn fans to not get the mRNA genocide vaccines?
You see, the reason why I ask is, Rangers FC and their fans all had a head start on Tims during the C19 scam.
Why?
Because they knew that every word from Snp/krankie controlled Fake/Scottish/News/Media was a lie.
Whereas Tims demanded the Cancelling of anyone on social media who did not believe Snp/krankie/controlled Fake/Scottish/News/Media.
You saw it on CQN and SC for example it was a touts paradise.
I have tried to reach Phil on his blog many years ago but he switches off the comments on his blog from people who don’t kiss his ass!
He is helping cover up the PLC “criminality” and so have you.
FOR NINE YEARS.
The PLC have tooled up financially and got 4 years worth of season ticket money lying under the table to cancel out any boycotts.
How many season ticket holders have the willpower to boycott for FOUR SEASONS?
I’ve got blockers on my system to block Phils website because he is a cancel culture enthusiast, like Sentinel Celts and boring plodcasts that could talk for years whilst dancing around all of the Elephants in the room.
Who has time to waste on such going nowhere inane pish?
You play funny buggers then act all innocent.
That is deceit!
The Celtic Trust got mugged by David Low and are, probably, so far up their egotistical erchies that they don’t even kow that David Low mugged them, then quickly left the crime scene, they probably still don’t even know he was in the building.
The PLC are throwing another league, maybe 2, or 3, or for as long as it takes for Rangers to dominate us.
How long will it take for the first paper aeroplane to be thrown at Wilf?
It would have been better in 2012 if Desmond White was in charge as he would have led Celtic FC to the adults section and got all of the EBT Disaster sorted out by pinning the ENTIRE blame on the guy who is to blame, DAVID MURRAY, Not Rangers, DAVID MURRAY, and prevented Scottish football from being flushed down the chanty pan as that is what happened.
Celtic acted like children in 2012 who do you think the fans take their childishness from?
BUT.
Wee horrible Hun ugly Snp/krankie saw Celtic and their fans acting like feart erchies and fully capitalized on that weakness.
As did the PLC.
Shred Auldheids documents and burn them and people won’t even have heard of Res12/5WA/£49/Treason/Tickets.
Fans were told by Neil Lennon when he came back after Rodgers got oot before 10 in a row season, that they were spoiled.
And it was probably the only straight talking honesty they’d heard since Neil Lennon was there in charge the first time in 2010.
A club run by and supported by shifty liars cannot stand.
