Brown launches bid to buy Rangers’ assets

1612

Former Rangers player, John Brown, spoke to Sky Sports this morning outside Ibrox and launched a takeover bid for the former club’s assets.  Yesterday he resigned as a scout for the company before urging Rangers fans not to renew their season tickets.

In an interview reminiscent of a memorable scene from Blazing Saddles, Brown told Sky:

“If [the fans]invest, we’ll setup a bank account that all the season ticket money can go in there, and we can guarantee that we will buy this club over from this regime because it’s coming back into Rangers hands.

“Gone are the days, of the, the money that we spent.  It’s going to be handled differently this time.  The fans are going to buy it over.  We have the backing from powerful people who are going to invest, but the fans will invest, and they’ll offer Charles Green, if he says he’s got the title deeds in his name, we’ll make an offer, once we see the hidden letters, any deeds that have been done in the past, if there’s any stumbling blocks, where’s Ticketus in all this, we’ll deal with that, once we see the title deeds, of this stadium, that I was proud to play for, in a number of years through nine-in-a-row, and we’re going to get our club back, but we need a bit of honesty from Charles Green.”

Reports that after hearing Brown, Charlie Nicholas is worried for his analyst position with the broadcaster, have not been confirmed.

The huns are (for a change) like a baying mob with this mooted protest tonight. People posting details of his hotel, what type of car he drives, where its parked etc. If enough of them turn up it could get ugly(ier)….

sometimes, someone grasps the moment, takes the stage, seizes the opportunity, clears their mind and adds sorely needed wisdom and insight, coupled to a strong, yet easy to follow plan, a plan which will release Rangers from their torment.

And that man is John Brown.

Like Count Basie said of Sinatra – when the man’s doing his thing get the hell out of the way…

RANGERS legend Sandy Jardine has slammed the posse of players who are trying to quit for free at a time when the Light Blues are in their deepest crisis.

Top stars Steve Davis, Steven Naismith, Steven Whittaker, Allan McGregor and Kyle Lafferty, youngsters Jamie Ness and Rhys McCabe plus livewire Sone Aluko have all indicated they will not report for pre-season training tomorrow.

Jardine says their actions smack of self-interest and greed and he is furious that if they succeed they will deny Rangers much needed revenue through transfer fees – even at reduced prices.

It sticks in the throat of a man who gave his all for Rangers in 674 competitive matches during 17 years of service as a player.

He has no truck with top players not wanting to play in a lower division – as appears likely for Rangers – but he is deeply disappointed that the players are not honouring deals they brokered in March whereby they could leave for reduced transfer fees.

In essence they would still get their move away, but at least the club would benefit to some degree.

Speaking exclusively to RangersTV he said: “I am dismayed shocked and disappointed by the actions of the eight players.

“You have to say that if the players were up front and honest like we as a club have always been you would respect them more.

“What they have done is seen a grubby opportunity – whether it is them or their agents – to exploit it and to solely maximise their income.

“The players took a salary sacrifice but for that they got clauses in their contracts which would allow them to leave on rock bottom prices if clubs came in for them.

“I have to be honest and I think the players have used our predicament to their gain although I can´t be entirely sure”

SANDY Jardine then stated two minutes later that the Rangers supporters are not fooled by the motives of the eight players – headed by captain Steve Davis – who want to walk out on the club for free.

And he wants to know why they are not honouring the deal they hatched in March when they agreed to pay cuts that they can quit for cut price deals.

Speaking exclusively in a powerful and moving interview on RangersTV, Jardine said:

“You have to say that if the players were up front and honest like the Club has always been you would respect them more.

“Ally McCoist gave a statement last week where he asked the players not to kid anyone on and to be up front and honest with the supporters.

“Of course, we as a club don’t expect international players to go down a division or a few divisions. We understand that situation.

“We would be reluctant to see them go but we would understand. They would move on with our best wishes and we would get a fee – albeit a rock bottom price in comparison to their market value.

“I know they made sacrifices but the gain will be huge in comparison. The unfortunate thing for us is that we get nothing.

“What we don’t have an answer for is why the players simply did not adhere to the original deal and allow the club to make money from these reduced fees.

“What we have to do in our situation is to get everything sorted out, know what league we are in, know what players are staying and then start to build from there.

“If we don’t have money from fees for players leaving – which we are completely entitled to – then what are we supposed to build on, fresh air?

“There was an agreement reached over wage cuts and they got a great deal because they could leave for rock bottom prices and now they have seen an opportunity. In many ways it’s greed.

“A lot of them are being manipulated by their agents but as Ally said, tell us the truth; be up front and honest and don’t put these smokescreens up.

“I for one don’t believe them and I know the vast majority of the supporters don’t believe them either.

Jardine refused to comment on the 230 million pounds sterling that he helped to steal from creditors.

Should the MSM, and indeed everyone else, ourselves included, not be referring to this latest Brown effort as “the second John Brown bid”? Any bets on much more successful it may be compared to its predecessor?!

And someone mentioned Sevco 5088’s banking arrangements (or lack thereof) earlier, as well as exhorting them to pay their taxes, however novel a concept that might seem to their followers. That got me thinking – would they have had to have paid a bond to HMRC in respect of PAYE/NIC and VAT before commencing trading? And if so has it been paid? And who is accounting for the VAT on all this season book income they’ve received in the last couple of weeks…?
