Two years ago I had a memorable journey from one end of Poland to the other, mostly in silent prayer that our man from Poland would slow down, to check out a few footballers, including Wisla Krakow striker, Pawel Brozek, who obliged with a goal.
Pawel has played mostly as a lone striker, he can hold the ball up and bring others into the game. He’s not a particularly tricky player but he has good positional sense inside the box. His move to Trabzonspor last year hasn’t worked out well as he has played back up to scoring sensation, Burak Yilmaz, who is averaging better than a goal per game in the league this season. Brozek’s record at Wisla was comparable to Maciej Zurawski, who he replaced as top striker in the league.
The Polish CQN brigade told me Celtic should move for Pawel and his twin brother before Trabzonspor signed them. When news leaked that Pawel was a target to replace ex-Rangers player (too soon?) Nikica Jelavic our man in Poland suggested he would pick up a lot of points for Rangers in the SPL.
If he comes to Celtic on a six month loan both parties will have plenty of opportunity to figure out if there is long term fit. In the meantime, should Pawel arrive we have someone to put pressure on Gary Hooper and Anthony Stokes and the Cheeky Chappie will have to consider his next move (again, too soon?).
On the subject of Jelavic…. Remember in August 2010 when we were told he “effectively went on strike” to engineer his escape from Rapid Vienna after the player declared he wasn’t able to face Aston Villa? I hear he’s unable to play against Hibs this afternoon.

Walter Mitty
Listened to the Traynor interview with Walter’s Myth on the BBC site there.
A number of interesting aspects.
First up, in the space of 3 days both Murray and Myth have appeared as if by magic.
Second, the litany of warnings from Myth:
Return to ‘pre-Souness’ era imminent;
New owner cannot find the necessary ‘investment’;
Sally knew the situation when he took the job, and ‘nothing could persuade him not to take it’;
If Jelavic is sold, it will be for the same kind of number as Rangers bought him. If they can get a little profit so much the better, but no one has much money
right now;
The Championship is a lost cause if Jelavic goes given Naismith is hobbled. Can’t win without goal scorers.
Clearly Myth reads CQN for reliable information and thoughtful opinion. Own up guys. Which of you is Walter Smith?

Speedy recovery to Tom. I hope the recent postings on here had nothing to do with it. No idea about the history but an awful lot of energy being wasted on this forum on personal spats.
kitalba – well done on putting whatever it was to rest.
Half time Liverpool v Man U. Thought I would read the Walter Smith interview. Started listening to the audio clip but turned it off.
I find it weird that Smith calls McCoist “Alistair”, like he is his dad.
get well soon gct

Where has the talk of us signing Brozek come from please? All the usual outlets have der Hun in for him?

It would be good for you to share the same generosity of spirit that kit has displayed. Let it lie mate.

A tweet from a journalist with the Sun.
“rangers target agrees terms…..with Celtic”
Malc, the Herald and the Scotsman have both run that story

Plus, apparently the Trabzonspor club site says we’re in discussions. I hope it’s true, as he looks the business, but I won’t hold my breath until he’s seen in the Hoops.
En cuestión de minutos se oficializará el fichaje de Pawel Brozek (delantero polaco del Trabzonspor) por el #Celtic de Glasgow.
Within minutes will be made official the signing of Pawel Brozek (Polish striker Trabzonspor) by # Celtic in Glasgow

Usual outlets maybe but CQN carries the truth on where his likely destination may lie and it ain’t ipox. They were/are interested him but they are skint and we have nipped in any event.
Keep the Faith!
Hail Hail!
Get well soon Tom.
Watching the l/pool and man u game, Evra seems to be getting loud boos every time to touches the ball, a bit sad.
Cannot see The hibbees getting anything today, especially with that ref, but you never know.
Going to do a bit of DIY after this game, and will tune in at 5 oclock, in hope of a wee surprise.
Cmon you boys in green

A few years ago I read the results of a survey. Fans entering EPL grounds were asked which of the Glasgow giants they supported/preferred. If i remember correctly our biggest percentage of support came from Leeds, West Ham, Liverpool, Arsenal, Middlesborough and Man City. I think the biggest swing in our favour , around 65-35, was at Leeds. It was interesting to note that Man utd came out even while Chelsea and Newcastle were only slightly in favour of the huns.
These types of opinion polls are of course very subjective and in no way in-depth, there to be shot down. However, watching the Liverpool-Man U game reminded me that there can be a definite link between clubs of different countries. They can share socio-political-economic-cultural-religious-ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Celtic fans have links with St.Pauli and Athletic Bilbao mainly due to a common ideology and they would have the same with Boca Juniors if they were’nt so far away.
I stood on the kop in 1977 to watch Liverpool beat Man City 2-1(Case Keegan) . It was strange to hear the kop shouting ‘Celtic Celtic’ while a smaller crowd from the back shouted ‘Rangers Rangers’. Since then I’ve been to a few testimonials at Anfield and I’ve never heard stuff like Hello Hello, Queen, Britannia or anything hunnish from them, as I have heard at Old Trafford. The link between Celtic and Liverpool has become stronger since 77. They love us for selling them King Kenny (greatest ever player for LFC), the post Hillsborough gesture, the backing we gave to the Dockers and similarly our support of ‘justice for the 96’.
We even share he same songs now…well they copied JCGE, and before anyone says we copied YNWA, well thats debatable.
Anyway, they’ll always be my favourite English team. (like Everton too)

“Unfair advantage to Celtic makes the title invaild
This isn’t sour grapes, but considering the significant financial gap that exists between Celtic and the other clubs in the SPL, surely there is a case to be made that if they do (after so many failed attempts) finally win the SPL that it has in fact been bought. This in my mind would make any sort of title win totally invalid. Remember their main opponents including the likes of Hearts, Aberdeen as well as us are competing in an unfair market. Sheer purchasing power, rather than sound investment or good management will eventually buy them the trophy.
Fair competition happens in the real economy, so why not in football? We as a country are suffering economically, everywhere you look people are losing their jobs and there are cutbacks to local services. Rangers is an excellent reflection of the harsh realities that affect the Scottish nation. Before I was opposed to any sort of quotas or signing restrictions but given the grim economic forecasts for the future surely this is the way forward so as to ensure the continuation of Scottish football as a fair and equitable industry.”
C’mon the Hoops.

Wishing you a speedy recovery, Tom Mcglaughlin.
Will say a prayer and light a candle for you at Mass tonight.
Kitalba big of you well done mate.
Monaghan1900,
I hear there are folks in Carstairs shaking their heads at the sheer lunacy of this one.
If only the writer had the ability to think his position through – he would soon reach a conclusion as to which titles are tainted and who won them.
Monaghan1900: 28 January, 2012 at 14:10
It seems like only yesterday since the Huns were waving fivers and tenners in our direction – which just makes that article all the funnier…
You can virtually see the teardrops on his keyboard.
Monaghan..1900 ……..Carstairs right enough……what sort of mentality states ” Fair competition happens in the real economy ” …….. they cheated the taxman to win several titles, and they cheated all other SPL teams to win the last 3 (aided & abeted by theire ‘establishment friends’)………..
I see all the pundits are now, finally, panicking……..too late, too late, and I just can’t wait…..!!!!

Are those muppets serious? The rubbish they write would make Dr Gobbels and his Reichsministerium für Volksaufklärung und Propaganda blush with embarrassment.
Did I just hear Keevins say “Sir Walter”?
