Brutal consequence sets stage for Giakoumakis

260

The consequences of a brutal Scottish Cup tie at Alloa, permitted by the kind of soft touch refereeing that would see official intervention during martial arts bouts, has left us without our captain for an undetermined period of time.  Callum McGregor’s facial injury was the most severe consequence, if not the most dangerous challenge.

We are likely to head to Tynecastle with Reo Hatate, who has played only 75 minutes for Celtic, and Matt O’Riley, whose entire experience is limited to a year in the English third tier, in central midfield, backed by Nir Bitton.

Should we get through this game unscathed, the experience will do us well as the same players are likely to be required when Dundee United and Newco visit next week.  You would be forgiven for thinking these games will go a long way to determining the outcome of the season.

Saturday offered little encouragement bar the opening goal, converted by Giorgos Giakoumakis, his second for the club.  Without Kyogo, Maeda and fourth choice striker, Ajeti, Giorgos has the stage to himself.  He has started three games since joining from Venlo in the summer.  This period could be the making of him.

Loads of posts used to annoy me then I learned to simply scroll past.

Only the snitch orientated poster would agitate for the removal of someone who’s posts they didn’t like or a poster whom they couldn’t browbeat into a clique.

Such is the way of it.

I think we are well inot repetitive territory just now.

I agree with Big Wavy’s response at 8.42.

    To summarise:-

I agree with you that reducing the repetivity of the Rebs at matches and being even more draconian in response to the On The One Road add on, is a worthwhile aim. I only differ in that I see the ineffectiveness of using the law to remedy it or posting on CQN as a way of influencing it.

I fundamentally disagree that Sectarianism is a useful or definable term.

I disagree that Tribalism in Glasgow or Belfast is somehow unique and fits that word though I do agree that many lazy thinkers in Scotland do believe that particular fallacy and were willing to buy into the ludicrous Strict Liability proposals to attempt a failed crusade as they did with OBaF Act.

I disagree that reb songs are sectarian or that all songs from the “Ulster Unionist” community are sectarian as well.

I see no shame in our vocal support for the beleagured parts of the 6 counties through the 70s and 80s but I don’t see the need to keep battering that point in the Peace Process era and I hope we never have to represent again, but I hope we always have an Irish componentand we never become Hibs or Dundee United.

I disagree that H block commemorations and Hunger Strike marches are the flip side equivalents of OO marches and I doubt that , beyond the likes of JHB and CQN’s very ain multi-monikered Hugh Keevins/Gerry McNee shock-jock, and purveyor of Faragist views, you would get much support from Celtic fans for that view.

And support is important if you are going to be effective in changing behaviour.

Hello again all you young rebels

Sentinel Celt has been hit by the same trolling from the same source though he will deny it.

I am not sure Paul can effectively tackle IP addresses any more than Sentinel Celts could. JHB also hinted that Paul had not wanted him to join CQN when he first started posting. Paul’s initial judgement and fears have been vindicated but he has never been one to reach for a banning approach. The soft underbelly of liberalism is it likes to tolerate dissent and Fascists and other Totalitarians try to take advantage of that.

The Right is on the rise and the scapegoating of The Other is a popular sentiment. It will take more than a battle in the Opinion Columns to roll back the rise of the Intolerant Right

Majority hun / minority Tim country = no equality.

It boils all the way down till it gets to the bit where hun Billy says….

“There’s nobody making you stay here if you don’t like it Timmy!”

“16% dizny get to tell 80% what the rules should be, Timmy.”

“Why are you still here anyway, Timmy?”

“The famine is over, Timmy, why don’t you go home, Timmy?”

“You were born here, Timmy, but yer bloodline wizny, Timmy!”

“It’s your choice, Timmy, like it or leave, Timmy.”

I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve had that 👆 spewed in my face, by my hun buddies!

But I got over it many decades ago without engaging in a ridiculous songs debate like a dog chasing its tail.

  7. Just seen footage of fighting between Partick Thistle fans and Airdrie supporters in Maryhill.

I wager none of you have seen this, but imagine it was Celtic supporters?

  10. park the bus 442 on

The right has risen because the left has gone woke, curtain twitching, snitching on their neighbours and saying daft things like “Men can have children” then taking the knee for who knows what, bombs painted in rainbow flags being dropped on tent cities, then spitting in the face of workers demanding a pay rise for emptying bins full of rats, whilst the jetset have yacht champagne parties on the Clyde, etc, etc.

Their home ground is in Phibsboro which has become a bit of a hipster heaven in recent years so they are attracting a new bearded craft beer type of supporter.

We need a top midfielder and striker on loan or the League is lost.

    There’s always the Scottish Cup.

Hope the beancounter new Chief Execuctive doesnt paly that Johnson card.
