I don’t like the run-up to home games against Kilmarnock, this was especially so when Gordon Strachan was manager. Someone would always ask Gordon the 1955 question, “Gordon, did you know….” If you don’t know the question, don’t go looking for it. It’s a fact that should ostensibly give you confidence but it only puts me into a nervous disposition. During Gordon’s time, every game felt like a must-win game. The carnage on here after a 2-2 home draw with Dundee United lives long in the memory, so the burden of a reversal at home to Kilmarnock would have been intolerable.
Celtic have an enormously impressive history which can inspire great things in the support but sometimes it’s evidently a burden to those having to go out and win the next game. Jock Stein’s famous, “The Celtic jersey doesn’t shrink to fit inferior players” quote was meant to inspire greatness and awe, but I’ve seen it used to damn contemporary players who were in no way inferior to some who played for Celtic in Jock’s latter years in charge.
Kilmarnock beat Rangers last time out and will feel as though they let two points slip away against us earlier in the season. Celtic should be sufficiently concerned to avoid premature Christmas cheer.
Best wishes to our friends at the Melbourne No. 1 CSC, who will be celebrating Christmas during tomorrow’s game.

I also have that e.mail. About a ticket for Ibrox?
I remember when Zbyszek and his mates came over some years ago for a CL game versus Barca Steve looked after them very well.
I remember one time, early days of CQN and long before I met Steve, he seemed to be on the blog straight through for 24 hours. IIRC he took family members to the airport then went on a CQN bender for an entire day.
Every time I looked into CQN he was posting and hammering the bevvy! What a guy.
Very much missed.
Hail Hail Steve wherever you are.
EDB he’s up there in Beatle paradise.

Its where Pauls Leader informs us of the sad news of Pablos passing.
Made me think about him and as will many of you over the Chistmas period.

Happy holidays to Celtic friends everywhere.

Are you keeping well these days? Caught up with your posts about having more time off this year than you’ve had in a long time. Hope you’re on the mend.
Laughed at your Coulport days!
EDB
Lets hope so
EDB,
The very e-mail.
Along with Estadio Nacional he tried to help me get a ticket for the 2 January 2011 (Samaras game).
He and Noel were the main reason for me staying on this site.

EDB yes much improved and taking it easy over the hols, looking forward to 2012 as this years been a bar steward and I’m glad to see the back of it, although compared to the hell that others have had I should probably think myself lucky.
How are you doing, looking forward to the festivities?

Way back in the early days it was probably Noel who got me hooked on here.
I’ve met Noel and have had a few good times with him. I hope he is well and that all is well with his family.
You are looking in Noel:o)

Just came on for a quick browse to see if anything was happening when I read about your dreadful news.
Absolutely devastated for you but as usual impressed by the strong messages of support you are getting on CQN.
Words fail me in times like these but my thoughts and prayers are with you,Oscar and the rest of your family.

We’re good my friend but as it happens I’m duty on Christmas Day.
My daughter Kerri was due to be working on Boxing Day but she’s swapped it for Christmas Day, to the delight of the person rostered for Christmas Day.
Just means we’ve pushed our celebrations back 24 hours.
Not been on much lately, trying to keep in the good books with Mrs. LB ahead of the festivities I will be enjoying on 28th December…:)
I doubt I will be on much over the next few days, so I will take this opportunity to…
Wish Paul67, every CQNer and your families a happy, holy and peaceful Christmas. God Bless.
Keep the Faith!
Hail Hail!

EDB wouldn’t be the same without the family around the table, it’ll be a bit strange in out house this Christmas, as ye know both of them will be sunning themselves on the beach in Aus this Christmas, we’ll see the rest of the family on the 27th when we go up for a few days.
All the best to you and the family, HH to ye!

The mankies to drop two points to st mirren tomorrow and three points to the bhoys. A win on the 28th and into the new year at the summit.

All true, my friend. I miss Steve and phone conversations with him. Thought about Pablophanque and his children today. He was true Celtic man and great person.
I’m also thinking about Dick Byrne’s and his familyChristmas.

Went to the McCartney Concert in Manchester on Monday-he was absolutely brilliant.Played for three hours performing 39 songs of which about 25 were Beatles
songs-was thinking of Pablo and how much he would have enjoyed it.
Used to kind of subscribe to the old joke that The Beatles were dying in the wrong order
but after watching an incredible performance from a 69 year old Macca I’m not so sure now!

I was trying to be ecumenical.
I love Christmas day.
It’s my excuse to get doubly drunk.

Ecumenical? eff off ya big Episcopalian.
whitecrooktim @ 1639- not a good fortnight at all! Good luck to your friend and cousin. No time is good for things like these but christmas is definitely a little worse!
Hooped dreams @ 1640- Not joking about the Orange Order! Im friendly with a guy in work who is in the masons, and his dad is in the Orange Order. Top bloke all the same! Strangely his dad supports Celtic and raves about the team of 67 and wee Jinky. Very, very strange. Cant be many like that about!!
Stringer bell- i can relate to your comment about sympathy. I dont like the look of pity on some peoples faces when we meet. Just smile and give me a slap on the back, then buy me a pint!!!!! :-)
Weeron- cheers, so true!
Angelfc67- good work!!! A great christmas gift for someone.
Right, im off to the hospital to let the wife home for the night! The wee man will get home in the morning all being well. Your support and words of encouragement have been great and very much appreciated.
