BURKE SHOCK CALL-UP

1

OLIVER BURKE played only his fifth game for Celtic in the 2-0 win over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park yesterday.

However, the powerful frontman, on loan from West Brom until the end of the season, has done enough to almost certainly win his way back into the Scotland international squad.

Burke, who has totalled almost £30million in transfer moves in switches including Nottingham Forest, RB Leipzig and the Hawthorns outfit, hasn’t played for his country since March, 2017.

The 21-year-old has been tasked with leading the attack in four of his five appearances and has scored two goals, both in the 4-0 win over St Mirren last month.

Ironically, Burke will almost certainly be given an overdue call-up because of the absence of his new Hoops team-mate Leigh Griffiths who hasn’t featured recently due to personal issues.

Now the speedy attacker could get the nod to return for the Scots in the forthcoming Euro qualifiers against Kazakhstan and San Marino.
