SCOTT BAIN’S seven-and-a-half year career at Celtic will end in the summer.
The former Scotland international keeper, 33, has accepted a deal to leave the champions ahead on his contract expiring in 12 months’ time.
As Bain, who originally joined the club on loan deal from Dundee in January 2018, prepares to say farewell, the Hoops are getting trady to welcome back Ross Doohan who is about to become a free agent at Aberdeen, according to a report in The Herald.
HELPLESS…Ross Doohan has no chance as Reo Hatate fires in Celtic’s winner in the champions’ 1-0 triumph over Aberdeen at Pittodrie in December.
The 27-year-old Clydebank-born shotstopper was among the stand-by squad as first-choice Dmitar Mitov become the club’s hero with two penalty-kick saves in the shoot-out to give the Pittodrie team a surprise Scottish Cup success against Brendan Rodgers’ men at the weekend.
Bain had slumped to No.3 in the pecking order at Celtic behind Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo.
As a homegrown player, Doohan, who was at Celtic for seven years after arriving in 2015, fits the bill to fill the team’s European quota and provides cover for the Dane and the Finn.
The netminder quit two years ago and sampled first-team football at Tranmere Rovers and Forest Green Rovers before returning to Scotland with the Dons.
