VASILIS BARKAS, who cost £4.5million when he arrived from AEK Athens in June 2021, is heading OUT of the champions.

The Greek flop, the most expensive keeper in the Hoops’ history, is poised for the Parkhead exit after a contract settlement was reached between the club and the 29-year-old netminder, according to a report in local media Sportime.

Barkas spent the season with Dutch outfit Utrecht, but has been told there is no way back at the champions, despite still having a year to run on his deal.

The unconvincing No.1, who was brought in by Neil Lennon after Fraser Forster returned to parent club Southampton after his temporary transfer, had a poor debut campaign and shared the goalkeeping duties with Scott Bain and Conor Hazard.

He made only two appearances in Ange Postecoglou’s first season before being offloaded to the Eredivisie outfit.

Barkas had dropped to fourth in the pecking order behind Joe Hart, Benji Siegrist and Bain.
