BENJI SIEGRIST is on the brink of quitting Celtic.

The forgotten Hoops keeper didn’t make a solitary Premiership appearance in his two years at the champions after his arrival on a free from Dundee United.

Siegrist, who turned out in a couple of League Cup encounters, has opened talks with Hoops legend Neil Lennon as the club’s ex-boss prepares for his debut campaign in charge of Dinamo Bucharest.

The 32-year-old shotstopper has travelled to Romania in an effort to finalise the switch and the move could be confirmed this weekend.

Siegrist has made it clear he wants to leave the champions after slipping down the pecking order with Scott Bain the preferred option for Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers as back-up to Joe Hart, according to a report in the Daily Record.

The 37-year-old 75 times-capped former England international No.1 quit following the Scottish Cup Final victory over Rangers on May 25 as he picked up his seventh medal in his three years at the club.

Danish legend Kasper Schmeichel, also 37, has just signed a one-year deal with a 12-month option to take over the first-team gloves and three times-capped Finland shotstopper Viljami Sinisalo has also arrived in a £1million five-year deal from Aston Villa.
