BYE BYE BOERRIGTER

CELTIC have finally scrapped the contract of Dutch dud Derk Boerrigter.

It is understood the former Ajax winger has agreed a pay-off three months before his lucrative deal comes to a halt.

Boerrigter last played for the first team 20 months ago and hasn’t even been training with first team players.

According to his agent, Soren Lerby, the ex-Danish international star, the Hoops paid £3million to the Amsterdam giants and the 29-year-old made only eight starts, including his debut against Ross County at Parkhead where he limped off with an injury six minutes before half-time.

Boerrigter netted only one goal in a total of 25 appearance for the club and his final outing came as a second-half substitute in the 1-0 home defeat to Maribor in August 2014 that cost the club the chance of figuring in the Champions League in Ronny Deila’s debut campaign.

Another lowlight was his two-game ban for “simulation” in a game against St Johnstone where Perth defender Dave Mackay was red-carded for his part in the incident in August 2014.

The player denied he was injury-prone when he was signed by Neil Lennon, but his fragility and lack of form meant his stay in Glasgow was a miserable one.
